Most if not all people will tell you she's too old to breed, she should be in a retired pet home at 9

Well I would check with her vet.  Here is what my vet tried to tell me about breeding an older dog.  First off you have a really good chance of them NOT being able to whelp normally which means a "C" section;  next the puppies have a much higher risk of having fetal/fading puppy syndrome;  your bitch has a chance she could abort; she won't conceive; and if she carries the litter full term may not have enough milk production which means you will need to feed puppies every 2 hours.

My bitch started hemmoraging through her mouth and nose when time came for her to whelp which was late at 65 days;  had to take her to emergency and take her off the puppies for a couple of days to get her to stop bleeding;  after that her milk production was down and never really came back.  She whelped so,so but after coming home from emergency vet she really didn't want much to do with puppies, a total disconnect for her then ended up smoothering one of her puppies (by accident).  She was 9 when she whelped this litter and previously was a good mother.  This litter did have health problems as they grew up and grew older.  Failed kidneys; HD, a pretty serious temperament problem with one bitch being fearful; the bitch with HD had eye problems (underdeveloped nerves in the back of both eyes, later cataracts;) cataracts with the champion dog that had kidney problems later in life.  Mammory cancer and dead at 8 l/2 years old for the bitch with temperament problems and a possible kidney problem although not detected).  Those were the 3 I kept;  another bitch had HD on one side.

So the development process is not the same as these girls age and their ability to carry a healthy litter diminishes or dwindles down as they age;  my vet TRIED to warn me but I just had to have this litter (a repeat breeding) as the mother dog was my mobility service dog with extraordinary genes to pass on;  but if I had it to do over, I would NOT breed her.  She developed doggy leukemia and died at 10 l/2 years old and I do feel I would probably have been able to save her had she not had that litter or she may not have even gotten that cancer at all had she not had that litter.  so there you have it 'WHY NOT' TO BREED AN OLDER BITCH.  Nan

I second what above posters said about her age. For the pedigree, it can't be better than that, her lineage, from both parents, is excellent. She comes from one of the famous kennels with outstanding contribution to the breed.

I will add my experience also, having whelped many dozens of litters for other breeders, that every single bitch over the age of 7.5 yrs who I've whelped has had complications, the older they were the more complications or only 1 or 2 surviving puppies.   Did the seller of the 9 yr old tell you that she was still good for breeding?  Did they advertise her as a breeding dog?  If they did then you got taken.   Her welfare will be at risk if you breed her at this age.  You'll be lucky to get a small surviving litter from her.  You'll be lucky if you don't have to hand-raise the puppies or give them lots of supplementing.  And I do believe that there is a higher incidence of congenital defects and disease in puppies born from old dams.
Hate to burst your bubble, but you and she would be better off if she just lived the rest of her life as a pet, no more puppies.  Chalk it up to a lesson learned (which all breeders, including the best, get.)

and just to add to what was experienced above, the bitch is lovely and pedigree same;  however, I think the bitch looks old.  She looks all of 9 years old, maybe even older.  Her condition needs to be considered.  Good luck  Nan

PS:  My bitch looked very young at 9;  she maybe looked 6...  Your bitch looks all of 9 years old. N

The best thing that could happen is that she wouldn't take...Like was said above...You will be taking a huge chance that the female of this age will have problems and might just lose both the female and the puppies...
If you're just starting out...then listen to the people that have experience...and learn...

i have an experience to of a female i had that had a litter at 9 years, this female did not look her age more like a 6 year old and thought it was ok , but honestly i would not do it again , just too many things can go wrong not to mention  that the female is 9 and will have alot of bad eggs and that what happen to my female she had 5 puppies 1 was still born was only half the size of the others and one had mega E and the other seem fine, so i had 3 make it and doing good, but i was just very lucky and to this day she still   is doing very well this female now 10 years old , but i will never breed another dog at 9 years again , as i blame  her eggs were not good, my vet said up to 7 years is ok , but past that age you can get alot of problems, i will also say this female never needed any help with whelping but, i dont think this is the normal.the only reason i bred her at this age as i wanted to keep a puppy , but i  guess it was not meant to be. i cant believe the breeder would sell a dog  at this age something not right here.
