I will keep Xena, She is a pet. Funny tho, she hides when my son is in the house too lol

I had doubts once as to whether she wold be any kind of protection but I honestly think if it came down to it she would.

Shandra:  Do me a favor: SInce your female also hides,,,,start playing music in the birthing room    nice easy listening   listening music  play softly day and night.....let pups be born to it....then when born  , start handling each puppy after the fourth day.....you not son or kids.....examine them with her watch ing ,,if she objects put them by her , console her , and praise, her.....next week start handling each pup,,,diaper wipe them and gently hold them  as soon as eyes open, start daily interaction....when ears are open at 12-14 days old start making tapping noises at a distance from them  ,,,each day get louder  , start talking loudly,,,only sometimes,,,start knocking on litter box    and continue this   announce yourself everytime you go to them    start at 3weeks old  ,,,scratching on wall around them not at them,,bang a spoon on dishes   at a distance ,,watch their reactions...watch each pup,,,,,daily   ,,,,,start paper noise,,with the newspaper on floor,    always away from them never at them    make your noises louder every day......as they start to play,,,put kibbles in a small coffee can ,,roll across the floor by them not at them ...scratch on wire or wall of box and watch them follow noise  getting closer to them till they start to bark at it....keep this up   Its called imprinting.....bang on doors , walls ,pans drop magazines, books  , yell , turn music up, clap hands   at a distance until they accept it rightup to them.....on the cages , if you are putting them on wire , like a rabbit hutch type with wire to pee thru,,,,run pencil or fork or spoon over wire above them ,,,watch them follow and bark   then at 4 1/2 weeks start pulling little tugs around over them and let them grab socks tied to the wall of the kennel they are in......wash socks with your towels ...its fun to make sure they hear loud noises and people will start handling them at three weeks...let all the kids with hands washed and not from outside sources of diseases brought in,,but your boy and kids start handling them,,,,,,,,kissey them cuddle them and clap hands to keep attention.....I

I just gave you 1/2 of my formula for puppy imprinting....

let us know when they are born....

I don't mean to be mean at all-but if your female hides from your son-maybe he isn't trustworthy around the dogs...or maybe is has to do with the chemicals they can smell from the add and the other one he has.  Obviously Tino has an issue beyond your son...

How is Xena around others?  Confident, nervy??

I know its hard to look at someone you love but if your girl is fine with everyone else then I'd keep him away from all the dogs...not that he would hurt them.......

SHANDRA'  Its the pups you are going to be imprinting not the mother......., If she doesn't like all that , well , you will have to start slow.....tHE FEAR period with a baby pup is from the 21st day till the 28th day....be sure to handle them and gently do all the things I suggested  , at a distance....keep the kids , if any out till after the Fear period.,,,,,then you have the  socialization period which is fourth and on into the sixteenth week,....this is when you do all the crazy things, and start intoducing people,,,,if they are clean,,,,and give your shots at 8 weeks at 7 weeks on until the shots are given  limit strangers...in the premises......distemper and parvo...brought in on hands, tires and shoes from town....ok enough     The pups must be handled like this to prevent what has happened to the female and  Tino      ........they have a fault of no confidence.....and a dog with no assertiveness and confidence and ability to retieve , will not please its master, so they go arey and start that avoidance and bad temperament stuff,,which includes a list of traits   a mile long.....if you do this , you can change a lot of what was not ,,,,,not   done for Tino  and it sounds like the female , also.....a pup should readily at 8 weeks to 5 years ,old ,when approached by a stranger, be socialable and pleasant.  Schutzhund authorities and those in this sport will tell you that a dog up to and past a year of age, experiences up to that time are the most important in developing that super candidate for the great dog you would want whether you  do schutzhund or not......that kind of pup is what any one would want, not one that needs days and months of extra special walk on nails training....You can change a lot with these puppies so you can better what you have to put in homes of new people...
