How about seeing his pedigree and/or pic?? Glad you're happy with him!

I can feel the spine and hip bones and see the ribs on my dogs, but they aren't too thin. I see a lot of American dogs that are narrowly built and it takes a pic to see if the dog is thin or narrow. Does your dog need weight in general or is more muscling in order? Most of the time, feeding more of the dog's normal kibble is sufficient to add weight. Poor eaters or dogs with sensitive stomachs are another story.

When we have a high activity level and wish to keep the weight or keep and gain, pure beef fat is golden. We feed raw so they are used to it and there are no i'll poo effects. Some decent chucks of beef fat as treats or training adds weight fast.

Great suggestion Gigante, we use it occasionally...... and the best part is most Markets with give you trimmings for free. Fry them up and pour it all onto some kibble. Smells so good you will be tempted to eat it yourself, not that I have ever tried to..... but I've heard stories.

Use Vertex and yogurt in his food - this put weight on my GSD.

Thanks everyone for all the helpful suggestions!!!  He is WGSL, and very possible he just isn't quite filled out yet.  I just feel as though his back end outta be a bit more filled out, as well as his shoulders.  My 1st impression physically was "I gotta plump him up a bit".  This coming from someone who already has a thin GSD, on purpose, due to HD.

Have a great weekend!!

These can be done together........these don't always show up in poop samples...
#1 - treat for tape worms, retreat in 21 days - heart worm meds do no treat for tape worms.
#2 - treat for all other worms, retreat in 21 days

These can be done together........adult dog can have these infections and be asymptomatic.....
#3 - treat for coccidia, retreat in 21 days
#4 - treat for giardia, retreat in 21 days

Check for EPI

If youre dog is still adjusting to America and American Kibble, then it could take a month or two to adjust. Stress can also cause excess caloric use. If you havent had him for very long, he may need time to relax.

Feed muscle meat(s) any type;  beef has the most calories and you don't have to give much just a small piece per day should do it.  But chicken thighs will do it also.  Best of luck  Also worm for whip worm if they are from out of the US.  I would not bother to take in a sample, I would just worm accordingly and repeat in 2-3 weeks or just do a five day panacur treatment.  Also repeat in 2 or 3 weeks.  Whip is very prevelent in other countries and little stinkers to get rid of that can cause havoc in the dogs system.  Nan
