Re the last vid of the solid black bitch, I agree with the last two posters, that the video in question does not show civil behavior.

She may well be civil, it is not a unique trait - but it was not shown on that vid.

Regards
Gee

What a joke, who has ever posted a training vid of an adult dog not biting a sleeve or suit...nobody.

Your only other option is not biting in a muzzle or barking at a guy with no visible gear.... that's still not civil.

Reffering to young bitch clips not last clip.

LOL just because we use fun stimulating training excercises that teach the dog to bite civil in prey (which is the drive a canine HUNTS AND KILLS in) instead of a shit ton of agitation with no bite does NOT mean the dog itself is not civil!!
This bitch is very civil. I disagree hans, and this has worked for me. Post some videos of your training to show me how u dO it better. Good luck to you.

Thank you, GSD, it´s more than refreshing to see good training videos of good dogs...

@ Prager...where are these good dogs that I don't know where to find? I have owned/trained DDR, West working, Belgium, Czech( Jinopo, Aritar Bastet, Apanti Rei ), mixes of all the above......where are these dogs?
GSDFAN is a superb trainer of both sport and LE dogs. She is also one of the better decoys on the east coast. I have trained with her and seen her train with top IPO folks, top PSA folks, and top LE folks. They all respect her ( both her dogs and her skill in handling and decoying)....very very few people commenting on this thread have her exposure or experience in all three of these phases, imo.

The best video Hans has in allegedly 30+ years of training the most civil dogs on the internet, breeding hundreds of civil dog litters, training hundreds of police dogs and selling hundreds of dogs to police and military all over the world and training a bounty hunter dog we get chi chi looking confused with a decoy acting like a wounded pet rabbit....sad isn't it.

VK, last warning stop the snide remarks and smart ass comments. We have members commenting here they can disagree without any of the crap you spew, so give it a rest. Can't you see members are ignoring you, so you are wasting your time trying to stir it up, go play in the OT forum.

I have worked trained PPD's who were started how you believe a dog should be started. Very serious, toothy bark, nasty as fuck and bites hard. But their grip sucks, very shallow, lacks confidence and really just bit me hoping I would go run away. They can not handle any kind of pressure (yelling or shaking things in their face). They won't bite the bicep as they don't want to be near the decoys face. These dogs make good PPD's (they put on a big scary show and will bite for real)...and in a PPD situation, a real one, they dog will deter 99% of people without biting, and the other 1% will run away when the dog lets go, even if the dog was not commanded to let go. But these dogs don't want to stay in the fight and they can't hang with a confident decoy with any amount of presence if their initial bite didn't scare them away.

I have trial decoyed these badass PPD's in PSA. Who's egotistical owners throw their dogs into PSA trials without preparing their dogs properly. They get run!

I don't give a rats ass how badass the dog looks before the bite as long as they bite whether they see equipment or not and as long as they stay in the fight. And I don't care by watching less than 2 minutes of video you can say my dog (the black female) doesn't look serious enough for you because she's in prey during a training exercise that is meant to stimulate a dog, encourage an autonomous decision to target the man without stress. Again prey is not equivalent to PLAY, prey is a serious drive that a canine HUNTS and KILLS in. I live with the dog, I know her level of defense and prey, I know how she watches people in training and in the park. I have put her through more training than you have ever put one single dog through in your life. She has been through tons of scenarios, both expected and not and has never balked, she has been to numerous Police K9 seminars and was always one of the best performing dogs among dozens of working street dogs. and she has had a couple accidental real bites in training.

It is possible for a dog to be civil (bite for real with serious intentions) in prey, I actually prefer it because the dog works with a high degree of confidenct and can tolerate high degrees of stress and pressure on the bite. There is an entire breed that functions this way...it is called the malinois.

Now it is nearly impossible to train any kind of protection dog to bite without using some kind of equipment. If you do then most of what you are doing is training a dog to aggressively bark...you are not teaching them to bite or how to bite or to tolerate pressure while biting....you are not teaching them to fight!

Off to training, cya

Super post, gsdfan...and you nailed it. What most guys forget when they start dissing sending a dog on a 'prey bite', is the importance of * the fight in the dog* instead of the happy hopping play seen in many so called 'serious' bite videos. Fight separates the serious dogs from the pets ( and im not talking about shaking a sleeve on the ground playfully). Jmo.

I have said that this dog may be civil so there in nothing to disagree with. You used this video as proof or show of civil training, All I am saying is that this particular video of the training is antithesis of civil training. There are plenty videos on YouTube of my training. I have posted some here. One thing is I do not teach through videos . If someone wants to learn they need to come here or pay me to come to them.
