Hattiesmom Fedor vom Steinway Park came and went fast without being in India long enough. He did not have a chance to mate good bitches. I know of a litter with ears that never came erect. It is very sad that such a grand dog came to India but could not leave promising progeny Same is the case with Rocky Haus tepferd grossly underutilised Then we have Timo sons Vendor Haus Dexel, Varko Haus Dexel who do not have bitches with lines common to them, so not much of a progeny could be seen. I am sure they will give some good foundation bitches form which we can get good progeny after 2 generations if bred sensibly and selectively. I have to add in the list Hulk Aus Agrigento Vigor ?????? (Quando Son) Faro Zum Gigelfelsen Vando Tollenstrand and many more............ It is so sad that majority of people here are commercial breeders and do not have any idea what they are breeding. As long as the puppies sell above Rs.20000/- just because the father is a so and so and mother is a so and so it does not really matter to them.

Hope that Bred In India Dogs are neither impotent nor sterile, except the fault that they are born in India...

Wildstrobe, I do share your opinion about the BI dogs There are many good BI dogs, but then they have also come from one of the dogs above or some other Good import. The German Shepherd is a German dog and if we do not refresh our genepool with the latest in Germany we will have a different looking GSD by the end of the next decade. Just like what has happened to the American GSD I know there are many knowledgeble and good breeders who can produce dogs as good as the Germans, but dont you think they also use the German Imports?? Believe me SWADESHI doest'nt work in the long run. You should have BI dogs but at the same time you should also make use of the latest German dogs to improve upon your stock. I am actually looking for a day when an Indian Bred DOG will be in the VA list of Germany.

What about Xero Saverland, Wastyl Arlett(arguably the best mover to come to India), Sonny Romerau( though not a good phenotype , he produced some decent stuff), Sansburg Mark ( who did a lot for the breed in ooty district),Jaguar von Sydenburg. i do know that the newer lot esp. Quando are prolific producers, but then the older dogs did produce something very good with a lot of very average bitches. Also we must not forget Orfino Blue Iris , Memix ,Uro( another nice producer). Why doesnt someone start a thread on the best bitch producers in India --could turn out really interesting for people who really know the breed.I got some ideas myself about the best dams.
