Hi to all of you out there! Two weeks have passed since I posted my last comments, and I'm happy to say that my babys' tail is totally healed and the first few new hairs are already starting to sprout! I have also started leaving him outside with the girls for short intervals (between 5-10 mins at a time) without him going for his tail. I've also noticed that when he sees me cuddling another dog on our walks, that he looks at his tail:-) I've decided to ignore that behavour due to the fact that thats exactly what he wants me to do, pay attention to him, and as I'm the leader of our pack, he'll have to learn that I'm the one who decides whos turn it is to be cuddled! I'm certain that we've still got a long way to go, but I feel confident with the way that things are turning out, I mean he's only just gone 5 1/2 months now, that everythings going to be ok. Until soon Isabelle

Jenn What a stupid question! I mean, why have his tail docked, if there are other ways of getting rid of the problem. From what I've read, we're dealing with a very young dog. Maybe the way that Isabelles decided to go is the right one for her puppy. I hope it is. Everyone has a large responsibily for their dogs, and taking the easy way out isn't always the best one.

Ditto, Iggeli.

Jruzsa, I guess you too missed some of the posts to this thread. One poster did have the tail amputated on a tail chaser, but that dog still continued on as if the tail were still there.

Wow! Jruzsa I must admit I had to wait until I replied to your post, I was so shocked that someone could even suggest something like that so long as we're doing so well. Apparently I'm not the only one who missunderstood what you meant!!! Or maybe you didn't make your point clear enough?!? Whatever, yes I've seen the miserable videos on the internet about that poor dog. Ignorant poeple that encourage such behaviour because they don't know any better. In Linda Bs unfortunate case amputation didn't help. I don't want to think of the future as long as everythings going well. Of course, if he does start his habbit again, I'll be forced to take other steps to see what can be done to get it under control. I've also heard of poeple that gave their dog away and the problem disappeared too. I'll keep you all posted, whatever happens. Til soon
