I have wire crates in my van...I then park in the shade. I have taken the ice cube tubs that you put the ice in in a cheep frig..I either fill this with water and freeze it or I will add ice and keep it full of ice...I then bungy this to the front of the crate and have a crate fan blowing the cold air to the dogs. I have black gsds, and sables, black and tans, they are all cool when I take them out. I am in TX and it is really stinking hot right now. This has worked great for me and my dogs. Heather I do think I am going to buy the cooler thing though that looks cool.

Calvin, you know my dogs stay pretty cool in the back of my conversion van with all the doors open, even when its parked in the sun. And with just two dogs, it's the perfect amount of space. You just have to convince your other half about the van. lol. -E

Elise, It ain't gonna happen ;) I've been trying. I think I'm going to end up with a cap and fans. -Calvin

You can get crate fans that hold a reusable ice pack that last a couple of hours; you can buy additional ice packs for a longer trip & swap 'em out. try www.elitek9.com . I've ordered mine but haven't tried them yet. I'm also in TX & agree with Heather re the wire crates if you have a van or station wagon. It's not just the trip--it's when you're parked at the club. I haven't tried the frozen 2 liter bottles--neat idea. Julia

No, I would not recommend the product, the concept is good but the execution is poor. The fan is way too small and underpowered. It may be useful for some very small applications but I did not find it useful. I have a full size pick up truck with a topper on it. I wanted to keep my dogs cool in the back, the solution I used, which worked very well was to use a dryer pipe (the silver flexible kind that you can by at Home Depot), I ran it off the main air vent in my truck cab through the sliding rear window in between the seats. It is now a cool seventy or so degrees in the back of my truck in the summer.
