I dont disagree. What I am saying and based on what I have seen some dogs seem to reach physical maturity faster and when that stops many mental traits start to kick in. Some have to be brought out and some just pop out of the woodwork and its there.
It can be a challenge for someone who was totally not expecting the appearance of these traits. i know some one who bought a dog for ipo and was selling the dog at 7 months for less than 1K because it lacked drive. The sale did not go through...by 18 months the dog drive blew out of the wood work and now hes a keeper.

Nothing "pops out of the woodwork", but a lot of owners/handlers/decoys are not able to ŕead dogs...
