Prager

by Prager on 05 July 2016 - 01:07

macrobytes I am glad you sorted it out. Not! I am not giving anyone any excuses. I am merely saying that the dog is what it is most likely because her genetics. It is beneficial to training to know if the dog is aggressive genetically or by poor socialization or handling and former training. The trainer then is ahead if he understands the reason for the  behavior and the genetics of the dog in front of him and   use of this knowledge may then  lead  to the training's benefit. Only an idiot trains every dog the same way and thus if one is actually knowing what he is doing then it is extremely helpful to understand what type of the dog the trainer has  in front of him.

GSDadm.:

No Hans. It doesn't imply you are riding Jiris coat tails. What it does say is don't tell me what Jiri accomplished. Tell what you accomplish. And without those dogs that Jiri had access to, you wouldn't of had anything to sell in the first place. Seems I remember reading or hearing about how Jiri got in some trouble because he was breeding those border patrols dogs into his private breeding program?

Hans:

Yes you are correct .  I would not and nobody would not have those dogs if it would not be for Jiri.   However I have one calim to this and  I have explained it above. Breeder like Jiri does not come down the pike every day. What I have done is that I have recognized value of these dogs and introduced them to US and subsequently to the rest of the world. If it would not be for that, then they would not exist as we know them.

As far as Jiri getting into "trouble" ? The fact is that he was under intense enquiry for several years and not even one wrong doing was proven. It was just a witch hunt.

I would like to ask you now one question. What have you and bee tree done for GSD that you are on such a high horse.  Just saying.

Mithuna: "Video coming soon waiting on availability of neighbor/helper."

GSDfan: I think I speak for the entire board when I say, please use an experienced working dog helper/decoy for your video. Not sure if you plan on having that neighbor video tape or "work your dog" but just wanted to put that out there.

Mr Prager, my comments were directed at Mithuna. I am sure it was not your intent to give Mithuna an excuse, but that seems to be how it was taken. You haven't seen enough of these threads initiated by Mithuna to see a pattern. The conversation at that point ceased to be about the dog at hand and became about a reincarnation.
I thought this thread might be a little different from the other threads Mithuna started. Although I don't understand the desire to go on the internet to ask opinions when you have someone that has actually worked the dog, I thought BW in particular gave good insight. This thread is going no where as long as it is stuck on one dog in a pedigree.

@ Markobytes

My simple point is that many people do random things with their dogs and the dogs NEVER become aggressive; thus the obvious conclusion is that random activity alone cannot account for dog aggression. There is another variable at work and it is reasonable to propose that this variable is a genetic one . Based on looking at the pedigree of the dog even in the first 5 generations of line breeding the hypothesis stands reasonable.
My coming here to ask for opinions does NOT entail some obligation that I accept such simply because it is offered by some alleged " board expert" or hero worshipper or clique member.
BW 's opinion is different from what Prager has mentioned..

hans,

I have never claimed to be a master trainer or have I ever even claimed to be any kind of expert on dogs. But what I am is what you crave. A person who is a flat out dog lover. Without people like me you wouldn't be in business. I have bred a few litters but been out of it for years. So, in all likelihood I a customer. Since the customer is always right, I guess that leaves you in a bad position.

GSD admin : " But what I am is what you crave"

How can an " intelligent " person unless he has a crystal ball make a statement like this?
Im disappointed.

Mithuna, what Prager mentioned is as useful as saying your dog is possessed.

That is what board members are trying to tell you. Where your dogs temperament come from is irrelevant at this point.

At the end it is what it is, you'll have to work with what you got.

by beetree on 05 July 2016 - 15:07

@Prager. Your attempt to chum this thread away from the criticism of your crystal ball by dropping my name, isn't going to work. I am not taking your bait.

This video better be worth the wait with all this build up for such a super-duper dog pedigree. Hope it happens during my lifetime.

@SS. .... Yes,  that is Rin Tin Tin in the director's chair. 😋
