marjorie

They said she needs a home familiar with working dogs. She was returned because there was an issue with the adopter's pet so the shelter is saying Raena should be an only dog.>> I don't have any more detail than that, so I don't know if proper intros were made, or even whether the adopter's pet was a dog or cat.<< was the answer I received.

Here is her facebook page

Damnit.  I've already got a 'wannabeanonlydog'...if I knew for sure that she was a social butterfly with other dogs, I might throw caution to the wind and take the risk of bringing her here and working her into Max's somewhat-selfish little heart.  But between him and having an adult bitch here already, that is sooo not a risk I can justify putting them all in.  What's up with GSD Rescue of OC? Why can't they pull her? Hell, I see they've got Beagle mixes and Dobes and Chihuahuas on their web site among their 'available dogs'--and they can't get a girl like this out of danger?

I'm not gonna sleep at all tonight. F***.

I dont know where the Ca rescues are :( That why I tried so hard to get Tiffany to us. The experience rescuing her was so horrid, with her getting sick and no hospital to let her rest her head, even over night, ending up in her  being euthanized for nothing... It was too much for me to handle emotionally I am still a basket case.  I am a zobie, still....Like you see your Hexe and Rykkah in her, I saw MIssie T in Tiffany... Not so much the looks- but the eyes with soul that just danced with a joy for life,  even in adversity... Losing Tiffy was like losing Missie T, all over again...  Many of the Ca dogs could come east and be highly adoptable, but being in a shelter they can develop  illness, and if a vets office makes them leave because they are sick, then they will just end of up dead,
anyway:( Pathetic..... I could not go through that ever again...

You should go on her facebook thread and post to it. She is rescue only sol a rescue would need to pull her. he would probably have to be boarded until transport was arranged. You would need to pay for transport and arrange  it. Its all  on her thread to which I linked a few posts, above.

She is safe, Hexe!!!  snoopy dance --- > A rescue picked her up- I believe it was Coastal GSD rescue that got her...

Oh blessed be!  I avoided logging in here today because I just couldn't bear seeing this thread yet...but this is such a relief, to know she's been pulled from there.

Marjorie, it broke my heart to see what happened with Tiffany, to get her out of that shelter only to lose her because she broke with distemper...it's that very thing that holds a lot of people back from volunteering to foster, the fear of bringing distemper or parvo in to their own dogs, and it's sadly a very real and reasonable fear.  The fault lies with the people who previously owned her, who failed her in so many ways--for the cost of a vaccine or two sometime in her young life, she had it taken from her because of a preventable illness.  It's selfish of me to have honed my sight so specifically to Raena, but I think that happens with all of us...we're concerned for all of them at risk, but now and then there comes a dog that's personal for each of us. With the amount of rescue work you do, I expect that has happened more times than you care to count; I truly don't know how you do it, because I'd literally have been comitted for a full breakdown if I tried to shoulder as much sorrow as comes with that work. I just don't have the strength for that.

If it's Coastal that got her out, they're an excellent rescue. They will find the right home for her.

Hexe- I honestly dont believe she had distemper. I think she had a URI, as she had none of the other symptoms of Distemper. Her fever was down after 2 doses of antibiotics. Had they treated her, my guess is that she would have been absolutely fine. Her loss still has me feeling terribly sad. Feel like I am wearing a *sad cloak* all the time.

Aqua, that's been my understanding of Coastal as well, so I do hope they are the ones who pulled her.  If her time had run out at this shelter, her face would have haunted me forever, and I don't need another one of those...Catie is powerful enough on her own.

Marjorie, {{{hugs}}}. I'm so, so sorry.
