It has been my experience in life that whenever there is an excess of a commodity, prices are always low....unless the commodity can't be used. But maybe my thinking is old fashioned...🙂

Over the last 30 or so years, people have learned a lot about dog training. Standards are higher, and specialization has occurred. IPO and K9 work is vastly different at this point with IPO demanding much more control and perfection than ever before and K9 work expecting much higher standards and also things like drug/explosive detection becoming a larger part of their jobs. Foundation work is necessary from a young age and a dog’s direction is generally chosen at that point. Difference in foundation, age at which police departments accept dogs, and a larger overall secondary market for “washed out” IPO dogs are just some of the reasons why police departments aren’t getting IPO titled dogs anymore.

sportbreeding is getting weeker also, from the three GSD to germany one was pedigree dog, linebred on baki salztalblick, getting some more nice dogs from him, good agression/civil, but sometimes also handleragressive
when im testing pedigree dogs I look at pedigrees first, and mostly have a good idea what will be coming up, tested a bunch of dogs this week from famous sportlines, several of two national champions, wont say who LOL, nice pets, nothing more, tested and bought two pedigree dogs from old czech lines, bought them both, good drives, strong dogs, one from Lucas vrtovsky doliny and one grandson of queit z pohranicni straze, , also bought a nice dog for borderpatrol , 1 year, fatherline haus pixner, two times honza okal, on a female bred by jinopo,
is it accidental many of the good pedigreedogs, suitable for policework I find are old lines and not modern sportlines, I think not

NYPD I was told at my visit there when I was selling them dogs, takes only GSD. NYPD has some of the best training program I have ever seen in LEOs.
