Thanks Randy, and Nona,  in my opinion only, think most of us are just doing the best we can to not let the drives decrease in the dogs..at least that is my goal...a Little bit of Gucci info.  He went from scratch to Sch 1 in Sweden in 3 weeks at 14 Mons,  Had to be a hell of a strong dog to endure that...Lida

Anyway, high drive sport dogs aren't an accident, they are bred for high drives.  It isn't an inherent quality found in all GSDs,  you have to work hard and breed specifically for it.  Just as you must breed for any other trait, such as the traits the show line dogs have been bred for.   I'm sure you can breed it into show lines as well, it's just that that's not what the overwhelming majority of show line breeders are looking for in their dogs.  This is why high drive sport line dogs are higher drive than the overwhelming majority of show line dogs (duh).

The topic is can't believe.

I can. (and I can also agree with both sides)

I like  working line dogs and certain showlines - and have had a mix.
These days there are less showlines that I like then there were 15 years ago.

This is why I am breeding my dogs to frozen from Lupo and Nax, as there is nothing right now  . Mod  Fenris,  please do not take this down unless it gets into a really bad thread Lida

gucci.........I think crossing working lines and show lines with the right ingredients is an awesome idea....And for anyone who has enough confidence in the dogs and in themselves to do it,  I say more power to you....

Just imagine if every automobile owner was limited to a red car, same make and model, cuz there was nothing else to choose from......How boring would that be.....Hopefully this is simple enough for everyone to comprehend...

USA is still a free country and here we are allowed to think for ourselves and do as we please....If others don't like what we do, than just move on and do things your own way....There's really no need for all the fuss.....Just ignore what you don't like or don't agree with, because all the fussing will not change a thing, except maybe someone's blood pressure might go up...

The above link is  fine example for anyone enough to say they do not know any "High Drive" show line dog. Also recogniziing Truimps Gucci High Drive for work using an open mind is another.

Randy

Thanks Wags....... I'll forward your message on to the other person in question.

You are right Nona,  and I am not disagreeing with any one,  Just am breeding to the old good lines, that have been proven...by the frozen...and the Czech dog Rony who was the 2009 -2010, fh nationals tracking champion...to my Gucci grand-daughter,  and have really nice dogs from them...This is my first experience with a czech dog,  but he is wonderful...

I agree with you, Nona.  I think there is nothing wrong with wanting show lines or working lines or a cross between the two.   I've always said this.  The lines are different, one isn't necessarily better, just better for whatever the person wants the dog for.

Gucci:  When Karthago used Gucci, was it to improve conformation without the risk of  losing  drive?  It's too bad there aren't more of him!

Of course every once in a while, there will be a dog like Gucci, an exceptional  show line dog who can excel on the trial field,  just as every once in a while there comes a Javir Talka Marda, an exceptional working line sport dog who can "v" in the Seiger Show in Germany.  Either way, is not a common occurrence, but one to be treasured, without a doubt.

Modulus Rex moderator edit: No more back and forth will be tolerated.  The next  time either of you bait the other will result in a lengthy "time out."

In my opinion, (and the opinion of most everyone I know),  show line dogs do not have the high drives that you can find in working lines, which is why I prefer working line dogs.
