The problem, I see, with calling man the "opposite of God," even after his original sin is the fact that yes, since God is all that is good and great, and man is lableled as His opposite, it ignores the times when humans are godlike in their ability to emmulate the goodness and purity that is God.  See what I am saying?

And really though, it is no surprise that the idea of an opposite is necessary to give contrast to experience or existance. (Trying to avoid the semantics game so the concept is understood.) So, if you want to throw away  the word "opposite", and substitute "contrast" to help understand that opposable differences are needed to make something we can sense as different, I believe, the idea still holds true.

I said I thought the opposite of God was either "nothing" or "absolute nothing" well - I knew I was on to something because I had a dream !!  LMAO

BeeTree, do you remember when you signed one of your previous posts "I AM" ?  That is it !!! That is the opposite of God !!! God's real name is I AM WHO I AM - he said that to Moses and Moses told everyone "I AM" sent him !!!  See, now it's all making sense to me number wise so I Googled translations and I found a shiny penny !!!

When "I AM" wrote his name he didn't write it in words - he wrote it from top to bottom in flesh an bone and it is us !!! I AM THAT I AM !! That's how we are created in his image !!

The opposite of God is a semantics game because to some people it could be Dog.  "I AM WHO I AM" is - IS NESS and translates to the self existent one and IS NESS is the opposite of  "absolute nothing".

It totally adds up in fibonacci numbers - holy cows - I would have never known this GSD Admin if you wouldn't have posted that question. Thank you !!

YAY I learned something !!!  LOL

I see what you're saying beetree, I see it for the load of crap that it is, the same arrogant misinformation as is evident throughout your posts on this thread.  You are as bad as Shtal in claiming victory while using bad logic, bad mathematics and bad science.  I truly can't wait to see your take on morality.  You love to talk about abstracts, when the subject is reality because that's what it has to boil down to.  Opinion only counts in the realm of reality and that's where you need facts to support your opinions.  You walk away by claiming something that was never stated, except by you and in opposition to your current claim!  You make the rules and change them as you go along.  You talk about not having an intellectual conversation if it has to contain facts, instead of opinions.  You think you can just throw your opinion in and that's all that's necessary, but you seem lo have a real problem with facts and logic.  All of those things don't have to clash and in fact, in some people, they work like a well oiled watch.  You are breaking your own rules and calling that perfect logic!  Funny stuff.    I truly can't wait to see your take on morality.

Then Ninja said: So to the people who make conclusions based on logic I ask you is your logic PERFECT?
I would venture to guess you would say no, but it makes perfect sense to me.
So if that is your answer, then you are using a certain “level of faith” to deduce a logical conclusion

And Moons how could say it was too deep?  Seriously?  Unless you were talking about the horse shit in which it's buried.  This is a classic logical fallacy and you can't even spot it.  I swear, every utterance on this board has been churned out like a broken record and when it comes down to brass tacks, there is no evidence of anything existing outside of space and time, including, but not limited to the God of the Christian Bible.  What you're doing is popping God into (in your own words) a non-existent slot.

Another logical fallacy rampant on here is the one that asserts if evolution can be proved wrong, then God wins!!  NOT.  There's still quite a long way to go to get at least one tiny shred of evidence. Because see, even if you could prove that just one event squared with what's in the Bible, that would bring into doubt the things that are known to be wrong.  How could a perfect God only be right about a world he himself created, with less accuracy than a roll of the dice?  And then you have this other tiny problem.  You've gone about bringing into question everything the scientific community stands for.  So why would you count on that same unreliable science to prove anything? You have already stated that science is incompatible with faith and it's science that's closed-minded, so why would you trust it if it swung in your favor?  Why are so many working so hard with the very science they so abhor?  Oh, I forgot, it's not really science they're using, DUH!  What they're really doing is claiming that something is unknowable and then claiming to know not only what it is, but what it wants!

And do you know what the biggest irony is here?  The fact that nobody is telling anybody not to believe one bit of it!  And nobody is telling anybody that they can't live their lives according to it, unless and until they use force on another human being (read, break the secular law).  That would be slavery, and though your Bible not only condones that and lays down laws based on it, that's where you can't cross the secular line.  You are free to do what you like within the private confines of your mind and your property.  You are not free to use it to rule others within their minds and their property.  You are not free to remove rights from those who don't follow your line of thinking.  That's where that opinion thing comes in beetree.  We each have one and we can't use it as a club to bring others under its control, on a whim.  That's the evil secularism that the religious despise, it's called fairness under the law.  So now, please explain who it is that's being unreasonable.

And now, ask yourself why anybody is having this discussion.  Who started it and why?  GSDguy08, you can find your answer here.  Ask yourself again if it takes faith to not have faith, but honestly this time.

Take your cranky pill Travels. Sorry you don't get it. Go ahead and hate me because you can't follow a decent philosophical idea. We are done here, all you have left is abuse.

Where have I stated that I hate you beetree?  Or even dislike you?  Because our ideas clash, we have to hate each other?  Really?  And here, I thought you just wanted an honest discussion!  You have issues with projections too, I see.

by beetree on 24 November 2012 - 15:11

When you are honest I will bite. You are deceptive. So we are done here.
