Constants, then... let's start there.... Science loves CONSTANTS!

And you almost got the true definition right!  Constants are things that are observed, TESTABLE and CONFIRMED by PEER review by SCIENCE.  That same community that we RELY on for medicine, transportation, utility power, iPods, computers, etc., etc.  But, when it comes to something they don't know or haven't yet discovered, you think it's a chink in some imaginary armor.  It's not, it's fact, it's there and it's accepted by all of us, until it's inconvenient and it's easy to discard it.  You think it serves no purpose, other than to put myth where it belongs, in the imagination.  If it were left there, it would be safe.  But it came out of hiding when it was challenged by too many.  It can't hide anymore, the truth is out there, it's testable and it at this point, the rabbit cannot be put back in the hat.  Sorry.

Like..... water boils at 212 degrees Fahrenheit!..... that is a constant..... and has nothing to do with your rant definition above.

Shtal was correct to say science means knowledge.

The boiling point of water depends on where you are at the time.

beetree, your panties seem to be in a twist, you're arguing semantics, trying to twist meanings, to skew reality. You asked for a list, I gave you a list.  You mocked me for giving you the list and you mocked my link.  Now you're asking something totally different and you are negating important infomation to twist the meaning.  Those laws, or constants, are fact, the theory explains the facts and why they're facts. 

Laws + theories = constants

Example:  You have something in your hand and you drop it.  It falls.  That's gravity.  It was there before we could explain what it was and the THEORY of gravity explained it.  That's how science works and that's where we get the answer for the definition of a constant.

Is that enough for you?

Just to clarify, laws are constants and theories are the observation and understanding of the constant.

Always cracks me up when creationists deny carbon dating, never mentioning that there are a myriad of other dating techniques, all confirming each others' measurements.  Yet, when something is discovered that science CONFIRMS is the from about the time of "Christ", the Christians are the first to jump in and call it evidence, based on the evidence they deny in every other situation!  Laughable, really.

And BTW bee, I didn't "do" idiot on you, you did a pretty good job of that yourself, no help needed!
