Interesting to see, thanks for the link Troy ! It seems to be some nasty intelace on the signal that they did not manage to remove, but I love to see those old videos with the original working dogs. I kinda was shocket to see them spring straight down from the climb thingie, I'm not sure I would like to have my dog doing that one on every day basis.

It would be sweet if you could post the clip you have on YouTube aswell Hodi, since I  believe that many of us would like to see it.

MarioF has posted the link to the video clip I have....Do not know where I got it or when. I have a nice collection of videos of all kinds of GSDs and SchH.  I was in error on the date. It is 1943 I think and I think it might be KNPV, but it is fun to watch.

If someone cannot see it on the You Tube, leave your email address here or send your email to me privately and I will be happy to send you the clip.

I don't know how you guys find these vintage clips, but I hope you can find more, it's so great to be able to see this stuff.

Thanks guys, those are so cool.  It is really neat to see those and see where the different exercises in our police and military certifications came from.  Not to mention seeing our "founding" dogs work.

I have a question about the first video.  Do you guys think the toy bulldog being pulled  around  on a cart was some sort of mascot or odd decoy?

by gsdlvr2 on 19 March 2008 - 00:03

Keewooool video!  If the testing was still like this there would be more harmony. If there were clubs like that I would go every day.

Sue, the bulldog isn't real. it's all in your mind.

1936 must have been in the era of big GSDs. Have you guys noticed how big these dogs were? SV judge Lothar Quoll wrote an article in the SV mag a couple of years ago about the size of our dogs. He did mention that there was some serious oversize in our breed before.
