I could separate him, but honestly, I think it's only worth rescuing this poor old guy if he can be a part of a family for whatever time he has left. For that to happen, he needs to be reasonably tolerant of kids' noises, loud toys, running around the house in circles, etc. My son is 3 and old enough to understand the dog is old and he needs to be careful, as we have already taken in one ancient mutt, but he's still a 3yr old boy...and boys will be boys. They are not quiet and they are not calm.

I called, he is out of the shelter and in foster care,STILL IN DESPERATE NEED OF A HOME.
The owners of this dog, has a special place in Hell, reserved for them.
There is no excuse what so ever a person can have that justifies turning your back on this poor old guy.
I would have got him had he still been in the shelter.
Dogs like this totally break my heart.

Thank God he's out of the shelter, at least. One step at a time. Maybe now we can get a read on his temperament?

Here is the e-mail jen of the person that has him, rcpets13@yahoo.com.
Sure would be wonderful to see him get to a forever home and enjoy some love in his old age.

The lady (Pat, I think) who fostered the first sable male (Sarge) that went to Melissa-then to her friend, is fostering this boy-I couldn't find my contact infro-Melissa or Marjorie may have it-she posts on the German Shepherd Forum as "Forruger'. It is stated that he seems to have some rear end issues and is believed to be only 8 years old-they are seeking adoption and assistance on his behalf.

I emailed Pat to find out about his temperament. I gave her the link to this thread...

Poor guy. He looks terrible for 8 years old. Please let me know what is found out about him. I do have concerns about a dog w/rear end issues in my house. I don't have any carpeting so my floors are all slick wood,  and I have young, rambunctious dogs, as well as a 3yr old boy. If this boy is in danger, I will absolutely take him!!!! But if a more suitable home is found, I would like to see him in a permanent home asap. The less bouncing around, the better.
