If you have some "proof" there are some things you can do. A disonest breeder is such a negative eperience!

I had a breeder do this to me  few years ago after promissing me unlimited on two puppies. I bought 1 and had agreeent to buy another with full AKC (if I wanted another) in about a year. The puppies were to be shipped to me as were the papers. When I got the papers the box was blacked out. I thought she had made a mistake and so I called her. She apologized and said she would send me a new app. Never got it and then she ignored my attempts to contact her.

I pay $20.00 a month for a legal service that covers issues like this. The service is called Legal Shield. I am covered by a huge law firm on my service and they sent her a letter of demand (no extra out of pocket from me) and I got my new app in the mail!

I never contacted her again and did not buy another pup.

I hope you get your issues resolved.

Thank you all. Yes is very clear that he would be umlimited and full registaration in several conversations. I tend to triple check things to avoid mis-understandings. I feel the breeder is practicing unethically as I am a very responsible owner who would never breed unless he does pass hips/elbows/eyes and has his urine and blood draw tested. But it's my right to do so if I pay for the breeding rights, right? I hate causing trouble for people but in this case I have been "ripped off" so to speak. I will contact AKC.

Also, Jenni78, the breeder requested text messages because she claimed she was out of range for clear conversations but that texts would find enough signal to go through when she had low bars at home. I am a grown up and rather old fashioned and use texts as last resort in all matters especially re: the welfare of a an animal. I did it at her request as well as conversations on the phone when she was in "town". Now I have to wonder about that too. I understand your point but it kind of offends me. Sorry if I misunderstand you.

Are you being sarcastic, Western Rider?

I have almost never found someone requesting text as the main means of conversation in a dog deal to be on the up-and-up. "Text only" screams craigslist puppymiller to me. I'm not saying this was the case in your issue, but you, yourself are now wondering about her less-than-totally-direct choice of communication. That's all I'm saying. Seems like the more someone uses text as a crutch for direct human conversation, the more likely they are to be less than straightforward. Seems like another barrier between people that makes it easier to fudge the truth a bit. Sorry if my experiences and feelings about text are offensive to you. They really shouldn't be if you weren't the one who requested text communication.

When I sell someone a puppy or dog, I want to get a real feel for who they are as a person and that does not come via text, hence, I am suspect, to a degree, of anyone requesting mainly text when they're selling a dog. If they don't feel that way, then I just wonder what else they are ok with...
