I have owned a Papillion in the past and found him to be an enjoyable fellow.  He was an AKC Ch and I specialed him quite a bit so he was in full coat.  He had one drawback which was when he would pee he would get his hair wet unless you kept it pinned up, I used baretts.  He was not overly barky and was very affectionate.  I would want to ask any breeder about knees and liver shunts.  There is a breeder in Mich I would trust.

Thanks Judy.

Many sites are saying they are very energetic.  How would you compare them to say a border collie?

Less than a border collie for sure. There energy level is easy to control due to their minds/behavior so easily influenced with training.

Chew toys will help their teeth slightly, but just go ahead and add in the cost for regular sedation dental cleaning. Toys breeds just have bad teeth over all. Tarter wrecks their teeth. I have yet to meed a toy breed that didn't have crap teeth.
One of the ladies i was talkign to the other night was telling me her last litter was 2 pups, one had a heart defect and didn't live to be 3 months old. The sister broke a leg at 4 months. But is now fine.
I see a lot of them running agility, some are superstars and just power through everything fearlessly. And the other slink around the ring totally overwhelmed by all the excitement and barking dogs. but still manage to sometimes get a passing score.
Now i only have experience with florida paps, they might be uch different in other parts of the country.
:D

Good to know they are not as high energy as a BC ( lovely dogs, but would eventually try my patience)

Paps sound like definite dogs to consider.  Thank you all.
