LOL

I suppose you are feeling giddy because only when RP gets elected, only then will you be able to climb that tree. And then, what if it just never happens?

I'll be kind and not laugh.

Barack Obama keeps saying he inherited problems. And, the statistics show that, just maybe, he did.

Look at this graph from the Bureau of Labor. http://data.bls.gov/PDQ/servlet/SurveyOutputServlet?data_tool=latest_numbers&series_id=LNS14000000&from_year=1983&to_year=2010

Notice that unemployment was on its way up before he took office. It looks like Obama did inherit rising unemployment.

But then, take the statistics from  the Unites States Senate — showing which party controlled the Senate, and apply it to that graphic.

What do you get? This:

So, when you go to criticize Barack Obama for his dismal performance, keep in mind that it’s not just his fault. It’s the Democrats’ fault.

And the fault of those that keep electing Democrats.

And what always gets me, is when people like to use statistics as the god-tool, well, it is like words, one well placed one here or there just about changes every thing.

And the thing about unemployment statistics that I find misleading from the very get go, is that it is based on those looking for jobs, only. So, that would be the recently fired/let go, applying for their benefits, but not the one's who just quit because the job sucked; they were abused or underpaid, even just lazy, stuff like that.

It's all complicated. Where have all the jobs gone? Asia, Mexico? Why? Whose fault?  Bottom line is there may never be enough manufacturing jobs in this country regardless of which party is in "power". When I lived in the York, PA area we were decimated when Catterpillar moved it's manufacturing business to Asia, but we still buy their products in the US, don't we.? They still have a Harley plant there. Only one reason HD doesn't  go to Asia, they would lose their market share in the blink of an eye.  Anyone know any HD riders who would still buy one if made in China? I don't. Hell they don't even believe the wiring harnesses are done in Mexico, one hog rider told me in confidence - that plant burned down, the work is back in the US.

Maybe we the people are as responsible for the unemployment situation as any of the politicos we love to hate? Maybe if we would stop buying products that are not made in the USA some jobs would return. How many here drive cars that were not made in the USA? Yeah, I do know that parts come for other countries, but when they are made here it gives Americans jobs. Honda, Toyota, profits go back to Asia, but at least they give Americans good paying jobs. Every Asian auto sold here that is not manufactured here takes money out of the pockets of American workers. Buying Ford, GM products, a good thing. Nothing cracks me up more since I moved to FL than seeing a good old boy with a mullet driving his Toyota pick me up sporting a Confederate flag in the rear window. The quintessential oxymoron.

Maybe, if we stopped demanding cheap goods from WalMart et al, we could help do our share and not have to be here beating each other up over politicians and how they screw us. We screw ourselves every time we buy a product that is stamped "Made in China". Seems to me we are our own worst enemy and it's not going to made a bit of a difference who is elected to office. But it sure it fun to think so.....

Very valid points Beetree.....Unemployment stats do not tell the whole story. I'm sure there are many more whose benefits have run out and /or have quit looking also

by RPKonig on 19 August 2012 - 00:08

Good post Blitzen. America/Americans needs to compete in a free trade system. Our current leader is not excatly promoting such behavior with the  "did not build that" speech.  I'm not saying that to argue, just merely point out he is not making the private sector confident in our direction.

I'm still waiting  for someone to draw a line from point A – raise taxes on rich – to point B – economic recovery.

Go for it!!!

by Blitzen on 19 August 2012 - 00:08

In the interest of truth, that quote is taken out of context. It's been refuted by a number of neutral websites.

Well, so far giving them tax breaks hasn't done much either, has it?

by beetree on 19 August 2012 - 00:08

Okay, I'll go for it... raise taxes on the STUPID RICH.  That ought to work.

by RPKonig on 19 August 2012 - 00:08

Are kidding me?................The entire context is even worse!!!

Again, how does taxing the rich lead to economic recovery? Please be specific .....Fact check it or something!!!
