Tara - If using the fact that someone was kind enough to congratulate Colin on his achievements when you admit to not knowing what he has achieved then I think maybe the apology should be to me. My dog did not ask to be included in your point scoring and I would be grateful if you would kindly leave him out of your equation. My remarks about withholding water were aimed not just solely at you but to answer several of the questions raised on this board and which you all seem to get upset about that no one is answering - so I tried. No one I know carries water around the ring solely to attract their dogs and that is fact as buckets of water are cumbersome and unwieldly and probably absolutely rubbish at attracting dogs The saying - you can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink springs to mind. My dogs will rarely drink when I think they ought to but will when they want to. With regards to your query about my role as show Secretary. If you are asking about a show at Weston Park some 6 years ago there was a dog entered in the catalogue in open but when the owners asked me to check the entry form he had been entered in Limit. A notice to this effect was dislayed at the Secretary's table and the Steward informed of the mistake in the catalogue. The same thing happened this year at Weston Park with 2 or 3 young dogs - this unfortunately happens when people who know nothing about dogs or dog shows collate the entries for the catalogue. Not something that any show secretary wants to happen but thats the way it goes sometimes. With regard to people talking to the steward and or judge in the ring - as a show secretary most of my day is spent in the tent and apart from 1 trip to the toilet each day which allowed me to see some individuals taking place as I walked round that is the total extent of my viewing of proceedings so cannot answer more fully on that question - for which my apologies. I am trying to answer your concerns to the best of my ability and would appreciate you not using such an abusive manner with me. If you care to ring me we could continue with this conversation and perhaps you would find that we are not all cheats and liars as you seem to imply. I am very aware that many of us are not getting any younger and we need new people and ideas in the breed and I have always tried to help people who genuinely want help. Maybe you would care to join a committee and offer your help to keep our breed going in the way it should. Nikki

Tara82, If while at a show you actually witnessed a dog being moved from Open into Limit and had good reason to suspect something deceitful was happening, why didn't you go straight over to the Show Secretary at the time and ask for an explanation? You should then have been given a satisfactory reason for the move, "printers error" for example. If not satisfied with the explanation you were given you could request to be shown the entry form where you should see the Limit Class number correctly entered by the exhibitor but the dogs details had indeed been incorrectly printed into the Open Class in the catalogue. If after viewing the entry form yourself you felt you still had good reason to suspect the dog had been incorrectly moved from Open to Limit, you would then need to make an official complaint which involves putting down £35, filling in an official KC complaint form and signing it. It's all very simple and straight forward Tara for anyone who bothers to read and learn KC rules, regulations and proceedures. You don't need to be a Show Secretary in order to learn these. In fact for someone so obsessed with the activities of others both outside and inside the ring, I would have thought the KC rule book would have been your bible for regular bedtime reading. Ah, but if you took time out to read, listen and learn, you wouldn't have so much time left to spend spouting your ignorant rubbish at people on this site would you? Now why don't you take time out to learn something Tara and come back when you are better educated! You might then come to realise what benefits your current inability to hold a proper, useful, intelligent debate has caused you to miss out on. Regards Sue B

You ~Tara tell me how you are going to stop all the cheating that goes on? Nikki is right WHY don't you join a committee, or steward or take a judges course then we can all enter under you and get a good HONEST result. OR you could write a column in the Magazine about Shows in the GSD scene and call it 'Telling Tara' now that would actually be really good ; how about me and you getting together to do this instead we could call it 'kiss and tell by Tara and Lara' Awaiting your partnership reply LC

Tara82 You seem to have an awful lot of reasons not to want to be involved in GSD's. You mention "little clicks" and "closing ranks" etc etc. If you really believe this and also believe it will never change, then why don't you find another hobby? Incidentally, this thread started by your statement about an unknown owner winning a ticket - isn't this a bit of a contradiction? Also, just a thought, but do you really think that if the show world is as corrupt as you say it is, you are going to achieve anything by insulting well-known Championship show judges? You have outwardly attacked at least 3 in this thread alone. I'm not suggesting you should suck up to them to win favours but at least have the courtesy to show them a bit of respect for all the years they have put in to the breed.

deb29 ?? I would listen to what they say and i would take it on board, but as you can see for yourself they never answer direct questions when the answers could put themselves in a bad light with their fellow conspiritors, so what do you suggest maybe they don't know any answers or more to the point maybe there are some truths to all these questions. tara deans.

NIKKI F Thanks, even though you never apologised for accusing me of saying something about your dogs, which i have proved twice to you that i never said( maybe we were brought up differently). But again thanks because at least you attempted to answer the questions even though you miss read some of them( this seems to happen a lot on tricky questions that need answers). I take on board what you say about the printers( they seem to get all the blame)though i cannot prove it now one way or the other, being only 18 yrs old at the time, i would not know the finer points of where to look in the secs. tent for a reason for changing the classes,i do remember there was a tannoy system there and would have thought an announcement would have cleared it up at once. the other point which was the one you misread, i was asking your opinion as a show secretary in general NOT BECAUSE YOU WERE THE SHOW SEC.So really the fact that you were in the tent all day is irrelevent, it was your opinion in general on people who go into the ring talking to judges and steward while the show is still in progress that i sought. But as with your mate sue b. the question was dodged.

Tara. Are you taking stupid pills?

by NikkiF on 13 July 2006 - 17:07

Tara - Sorry if I misread your question but it did seem aimed at me personally but I will answer your question. I have never accepted owners or for that matter handlers talking to judges when they have a dog entered in the show. I have never hidden my feelings on this subject and have at times been quite outspoken on the subject but never on here before. I do prefer to talk to people face to face when discussing any subject - you can tell when they are lying then!!! (Sorry that was a little tongue in cheek!) Please feel free to talk to me at any show you will find I am not an ogre or for that matter without feelings. KC rules do state that if a dog has to be put into another class for any reason it must be posted in writing at the Secretarys office. There is no requirement to announce it on a tannoy system but you will notice that we did actually do that at Weston Park this year as there were several incorrect classes and we thought it may make it easier for people watching. See we do learn from our mistakes and take on board valid criticism. Nikki

NIKKI F. Thankyou for that answer. Tara.
