It's a tough economy, but FWIW, I have not had any problem selling my pups. I did let a few good homes make payments though. If your pups truly stand out in terms of quality, I think you will be ok if you're not looking to get rich or even break even, lol. When someone is fed up with what's out there and have looked around a bit, and then finally find that proverbial "total package" breeder (and no, I don't mean "watered down GSD who looks pretty on the couch"), and see firsthand that it IS possible, they'll buy.
And if you stand behind your dogs, that goes a long way, too. People will see that you're that confident in them and that will make them in turn feel more confident. I have a buyback guarantee on mine- people think I'm nuts, but I do it for the dog, not the people. The more honest you are, the better. I've been told I'm too honest about my dogs- but like I said in another thread last night, I want to be honest. I want people to know exactly what the parents of that pup are like and what they can expect- the good, bad, and even the ugly. The last thing I want is a pup in the wrong home; if you adhere to a strong set of ethics, I really think you'll be ok, even in this economy if your "product" truly is a cut above. That's the key though; no matter what you say on your website, if your dogs don't stand far above what they've seen, it's pointless.

Some people do, some people dont...
Mike, Nate ... my reccomendation if you are lookin gor the "total package" as Jenni calls them. I have seen the dogs, they are not only worked but also competed with, the puppies are well priced! And you get help from pros... cant beat that! They are also nice people; they like Hruskovica...so they are Good in my book.
Good luck

Rock solid temperament
Reasoning skills
Superior intelligence
Intensity w/out losing focus (meaning no "I will chase my ball off a cliff because I don't notice the cliff" dogs)
Excellent structure
Thick bone/good substance
Dark pigment
There's more, but just this short list eliminates too many dogs already, IMO. And many of them are being bred repeatedly!

Jenni
That is exactly what a show line breeder told me. We all have different descriptions for different things. We all thrive to do the best according to out believes and convictions. What is the ultimate for me, can be mediocre for you and vice versa.
I just get lost in the namings of things.. that is all. I call good dog a good dog, not perfect by any means; but darn close to perfection in my desires in a working dog.
Cheers!
your girl is a pretty dog.. any plans for more titles? I know you have a baby (pics) so it might be a little difficult.

Good points, The key is you both know what you want and that narrows the field a lot. Thats why you
can't just lump all dogs into one price range. I don't know either one of you but have read enough of you're posts to bet you both have good dogs and would not settle for lesser than what you desire simply
because they were a little cheaper. hank

Pack, I don't plan on titling her further at this time. I don't have anyone I'd trust her with- she's worth too much to me to send her off just to advance her titles- and you're right about the baby. Maybe when I retire her from breeding I'll do more training with her- she loves to do whatever you want. For now, she's a farm/house dog;-) I am assuming you meant Capri, since she's the one in my avatar, right???
