I found joy with the visit to the Tyler Rescue for Bengal and other large cats on Sunday..THEY are beautiful animals and the stories of the way and reasons the cats were sent to them is atrochous like with dogs that are abused or given upl.

A beautiful place supported by donations all over the USA.

HERE are a few pics of the joyous cats that are at peace.

Oh here is my JOY for the day! I just rented studio space! It is a bit smaller than I hoped for, but I got my foot in the door for when there are openings for a larger space, by taking the space. Can not beat the price however! Cheap! Only three flights up, but it is at the end of the hall with nice morning light.

Goal: Have at least 5 or 6 new works for the collaborative Art Show they hold in October. This is a start for the real deal.

I'm thinking I will paint something with that Cock A Doodle doodler for starters? His vocaliaztions could be my inspiration for the start of my new artistic beginnings. I am going to have to think of a studio name, and apply for a sales tax exemption. I get to move in on the first!

Good luck with the art studio bee...a close friend of mine has one and I have been there this week with some students....at my school, the week after exams is a week for students to get outside of the classroom and participate in other activities like art, hiking, fishing, etc.

The watercolor painting I've been working on...I prefer acrylics, but the art teacher is instructing us with water colors.  Tomorrow we use acrylics.

That crab is adorable. I want to name it, "Moons". Wink Smile

You know, I think watercolors are one of the hardest mediums to do well. There is much more planning involved with using the paper and negative space. All that preparation makes me frustrated so often, as I like to work things out during the actual painting. Otherwise, I tend to bog myself down in detail and never get to finishing a thing.

And acrylics these days! Wow. It was so easy way back when when the choices were less. Now there are so many options with the body, textures and mediums. I thought I was an oil paint only snob, but all the newest stuff I did, I was using acrylics. The paint was workable enough before it dried for fine blendings, and could be layered with transparent colors or opaque ones, if one knows their pigments and grounds. I preferred a real good quality, soft nylon brush though. Can't stress enough what a good brush will do for you!

Have fun GG! Looks like you have summer vacation on your mind... if I go by your subject! LOL

And thanks for the well wishes for my new art career that I have planned. I appreciate the support!

Watercolor does take more planning which I wasn't prepared for since I did not know ahead of time we would be painting with them.  I did learn the dry brush and wet-on- wet techniques, as well as the importance of paper weight.   I have more experience with acrylics as I have taken classes from my friend more than once.   Acrylics are more "forgiving."

Summer vacation for me will begin with surgery. I have an abdominal hernia where I had surgery years ago.   Don't have a set date for surgery yet...still have to undergo another test next week.  Good thing is that I know the surgeon (his wife teaches at the same school as me and I teach their kids).   So he (surgeon) promises to take good care of me.
