Bolle JaNaKa female offspring in KNPV - Page 2

Looked like a good, well trained dog to me. Very good drive, confident, enjoys the work. I didn't see any excessive pulling. That "well trained routine" requires a lot of commitment and a good dog. I would agree that Bolle JaNaKa line is selected for high prey to excel in sport, but that doesn't mean the dog is incapable of real work.  When I hear someone say their dog will kill someone I just  .

Apple, I have to laugh about 'their dog will kill someone". Not a week went by where us handlers would be out to eat and someone come up and tell us about their dog and how he would kill a man. But only on their command!

There certainly are dogs and breeds that are more likely to kill a person than others, but that is not what GDS are typically bred for. They are bred and trained for controlled aggression.

I watched the video again and I agree with Apple that I do not see a lot of pulling. Like from the other thread, pulling is a natural behavior and all dogs will display the behavior when stressed enough. When the dog is over asked, other behaviors that may be seen before or after pulling would be grip slip, loss of grip, shaking/thrashing, chatter, finding the pacifier (abandoning a bite position for a position they are comfortable with), loss of commitment including abandonment, etc. These are seen on real bite encounters, but a dog in training or in trial may also exhibit same behaviors when stressed enough. The female GSD had an uneventful routine and performed well.

emoryg, look again, LOL most bitemoments are cut (too ) short , look again at guarding object, you can clearly see her pull and shake, definately not pushing

but bear in mind that I am not the one who says that dogs who pull are crappy dogs 

It is not as black and white as pushing dog are good and pulling dogs are crappy. As usual, it is more complicated than that. Some dogs are genetically predisposed to push and some to pull. Training is a large factor. IPO/IGP dogs are typically taught to pull to set the grip. Dogs in suite sport are more often taught to push. As a result, this effects selection and breeding outcomes. This issue is that some dogs that pull are doing so out of insecurity and are stressed and on the verge of flight.

key words are "some dogs " 

fact is that nor pulling or  pushing is a measurement for strength, hardness, dominance,mental stability or anything else close to that, other than it is measurement of prey,posession and training

duke, i was curious in regard of dog jumping in front of decoy. seems such behavior inheritable.
