well i honestly don't know the life style, experiance with any type of dog, or goals the OP has..but i DO know of a few gsd rescues in my area who have MANY dumped off dogs with nice blood lines that are just tossed out because the owners were over whelmed with the prey drive, barking, biting, destroying their homes ect.
so to make my long story short...do you start out in the NFL without first at least playing in highschool?

but i totally see your point...the dogs obviously are NOT "great" in anyway..but they also were being engaged at a very low level. Heck even my dog will just sit and hold his ball on a string calmly and if i don't engage him and just act all mellow he'll just lay down while gripping the ball.

OP:  ask for a new video of the dogs with a higher level of engagment. Be honest with them and tell them they were boring both dogs lol..then they'll have somthing to proove :)

sry to get off topic btw

also maybe find a local club that can talk to you and find out what level of drive would work best for what your looking for...some dogs are so high they have to be worked multiple times a day, never will be able to be an inside house pet till around 3-4 years of age, and some will even self mutilate if they are not mentally and physically tired. like chasing their tail and chewing it off, eatting through their crate till their teeth break ect.

My thoughts along with my experiences; Commenting letting alone commenting here is a "delicate" issue. Mixed with that our "observing" a dog or pup is minimal, (I think one was 36 secs. could be wrong?)

For the OP to ask a question, probably to get an answer he doesn't want to hear....... Yes it would be nice to stay on track but the commentors' comments with their experiences and preferences makes for a better answer in my eyes.

Bottom line; right is right. Chaz, (nothing against you) but at times you don't know if he's serious but in this case he's dead on. Maybe said it like you really didn't want to hear it? (And if Chaz is someone else.... hey I don't know it)

Another thing when the OP,( and I/we don't know if the man in video is the OP or not) but every commentor is "ON" with their read on the videos. One must understand, or try to, that when we comment on something, 1. You asked  2. If it's something you don't want to hear or see it doesn't mean we are bashing.

I'm not being mean but "DRIVE", we might have different definitions, meanings or ideas. That doesn't mean that each and everyone of them are right. So when I see this topic/video I first wonder if the man is the OP and what the OP vision/definition of "DRIVE" is? I'm not the expert but when someone asks a question such as this I wonder 1. If it's legit? or 2. Are they getting ready to stir the waters, even when they say ........no bashing?

But the ? was: .......think of the drive on these dogs.  Dogs can have bad days just as humans, just as athletes but IMO the first video show no more than a dog "playing" with a ball, nothing in my eyes, training wise, experience wise or work wise demonstrates "DRIVE" and I'm not being mean, but goes back to one's interpretation of "DRIVE".

The second video, would show more than the first but IMO shows what most if not all puppies would do in the same scenario. To me "DRIVE" is (one example) if I POST my 15 mo and I'm trying to hide the aids for explosives and she's trying to pull the 4X4 out of the ground. She's barking and whining so loud and high pitched and clawing tearing up the ground to get off line to start searching. All hell is breaking loose! To me that is "DRIVE" and that is just one example. All commentors were dead on EVEN the humble one
