adamyoung- I do not work with sport dogs, so my  My Mknowledge of Schutzhund work is limited, having said that I would think that with the Dam having a Sch 3 title, she would have the drive your looking for.
 
I would suspect that the owner did not train the dog himself which would explain his inability to build both her and the pup up to show their drive properly.

Not bashing him, just pointing out what I see in a short video.
 
Hopefully some of the experienced Schutzhund folks can help you decide, or point out some things to look for.

it is dengerous to do that , that was very wrong , working that puppy any way, i would not work a puppy that way.

Personally the dogs in the videos don't have enough drive for my taste. But they are also being fed like stated above. Dogs can get paper titles, not saying that dam did. But I would rather watch the dog work at obedience, tracking, protection or all three before I make a complete decision. Even then, everyone has their preference in drives and dogs. What I might like someone else might not. Learn what you want in a dog and how to recognize it. Then don't settle for less.

in my humble oppinion, i would say they have some drive :)  but not enough shown to purchase for what i intend to do with my dogs.  what are your goals with the pup? i assume you are interested in maybe purchasing it?  if your newer to the sport world that might be a good choice.  It does have some drive..but not the amount I would want. but then again i went all out on my first pup and kinda learned the hard way about owning a "high drive" puppy. LOTS AND LOTS of patience and even more band-aids.

if your going for hobby/recreation schutzhund work i would say good choice. esspecially if you have a family with small children. looks like a pup you could cuddle with..but for going "all the way" or high level competition i doubt that pup (or dam) has enough of what it takes...but i wouldn't say there is nothing to work with there either.

 

Disagree. I don't even think that is a club level dog. I've seen itty bitty terriers that have more potential. Why would one want to make it harder on oneself. If Adam is serious about doing something, why would you put him at a huge disadvantage to reach his goal? What do you think would be easier to learn with, a medium drive dog, or a dog with very low drive and weak grips? If you were just learning to drive, wouldn't you want power steering? That always cracks me up when people recommend a newbie buy a POS like it will be easier for the inexperienced. Long story short, I wouldn't buy that pup for any bitework type of home. I'm not saying anything is wrong with it. I'm sure someone on here will buy it and post pics and videos of it doing nothing. They will love it and think it is the best dog in the world. Heck, they may even breed it a few times.

Just to make my short story long, id like to add a question. Do you think you need more patience with the tortoise, or the hare?
