I agree, so Evans, in fairness to this breeder....facts, not just accusations,

I find it just amazing how many people are able to find this site after they have a problem, have a post count of 1, complain or make accusations against so and so breeders.  If people only did their research first.

I bought the dog end of February this year the dog was 10 months old a Mutual friend of both of us brought the dog over for me I met her this side of the Eurotunnel. That morning the dog had diarrhoea I took him to the vets to register him and explain the problems they said it could be stress or the new dog food he's on so I didn't think there was a problem after a few weeks of trying to find dog food that suited him i contacted her to say that I am struggling to put weight on him and what food was she feeding him. Her reply was the food could only be bought in Belgium. So a friend suggested I try him on hyper allergenic dog food so I did but still struggle to put weight on him so I went back to the vets and they said it sounds like epi and done blood tests which turns out to be small intestinal disease. I messaged her back to let her know but got no reply I give her a week and tryed again finally got a reply saying the dog was fine when she sold it to me and it had been vet checked my reply was ok fair enough but look at it from my point s then they blocked me from Messenger. when I contacted our Mutual friend she tryed to contact her but she as blocked her as well.

I say F_ _ _  the people, it is about "the puppy", and as a breeder you are responsible for "the puppy" and its health, happiness and well being.  They need to buck up and fix the problem(s) for the well being and safety of the puppy.  Nan

EPI along with DM the two most catch all problems that a Vet can use these days.

I have seen and been involved with several dogs that the owners were told had EPI and all they had was an infection in the small intestine that was never properly diagnosed and treated.

The longer you allow the diarrhea the longer it takes to cure.  Just as a starting point ask your Vet to give it a 3 day treatment of Ponazuril see if that helps, repeat following week if needed.

Find a food and stick with it, I prefer raw.

How hard they want to make the latest fad problem be the problem.

Had a year old female that was fine when I went to work came home could barely walk.  Vet swore DM.  Many dollars of EM xrays he still would not give in.

New Vet Pelvic broken in two places.

Just saying that your dog may not have EPI and yes the stress of all that happened could bring it on

Yep, Sounds like a breeder problem to me.

Just have to wonder why the buyer and the mutual friend were both blocked by the breeder.  That in itself raises red flags to me.

Totally agree with Western Rider. Vets love to diagnose GSDs with DM and EPI every time they trip or have diarrhea.

Small intestinal disease is not very specific- also, untreated protozoa like coccidia, giardia, and the like can cause very similar symptoms and like WR said, the longer it goes on, the longer it takes to treat.

Not only is it what Jenni said, but the longer coccidia or giardea goes untreated, the more damage is done to the intestines, impairing digestion and affecting overall health.

Usually if my pups have runny stools they go away after a good worming.

Although, sometimes it can be something as simple as a change in their diet.

I had a lady that got a pup from me and had the pup for 5 weeks and changed the pups diet/food

at least 5 times, and told me the pup had IBD, I told her to bring the puppy back to me and we will give

her a full refund, and she said "Really"?.......  The vet had put the pup on Flagyl, prednisone, and Hill's Prescription diet also checked for all the parasites in the book, couldn't find any, but failed to give the puppy it's second round of immunizations. "Duh"!

It was then after getting my well bred healthy pup back that we decided to add a clause to our puppy contract:

10.) If for ANY reason within the first 3 weeks of ownership, purchaser does not wish to keep puppy, you are advised to return puppy back to breeder for a full refund of amount paid to breeder.

This saves the pup from an unhappy life.>Dog  Wink Smile
