Greyhound ~ what's her name ;)
Dewulf ~ thanks that's the kennel jenni mentioned too, but finding a website for Stadtfeld kennel ain't easy ! is it just me or what? Google apparently is not my friend ,,,lol
Hexe~ hello there :) I can always count on you to respond with something helpful ! Thank you. I've been combing past threads for tidbits of info, but some of those threads as informative as they are, are pretty old ! After work today I'm going to look at the names you provided
Anyway, to be more clear, winning the NASS is shooting for the moon lol, but having the "type" of dog that can go there and hold their own would be pure joy to me! And to add to that beauty having the ability to work like a "beast" is the goal ! And between the two of us I believe we have the passion, commitment, and experience /skills to accomplish it! And of course whatever we are lacking in, having a desire to learn something new is fun too :)
its exciting to think about and the research is proving to be a learning experience for me especially ! Unlike him, I've not spent a lot of time looking at working line pedigrees etc,,,
Hundmutter~ Thanks for the thoughts and I will respond after work tonight :)

"old Ruger"
Jenny~ I prefer the new and improved Ruger! Don't tell me you didn't recognize that handsome male in my profile picture ;)

Hund~ thanks for the reply
To be clear I never insinuated that Mittelwest dogs couldn't be worked. Clearly Kevin and Vandal prove that! :)
I can only speak to my experience with Prince ~
And there is no discourse between us, we both know what we want as the title states ! But we will have to do some searching to find it ~

Jenni78 breeds dogs from the lines she mentioned. I've seen them in person and they are beautiful. I also recently bought one of her puppies and am extremely happy with her so far. She's a very balanced pup with good working ability and very nice structure. Having said that, I don't expect to ever win a national level conformation show with a working line dog any more than anyone with a show line dog should expect to win a working competition...it simply isn't a reasonable expectation. Getting a V on a working line dog is possible but again, that's probably only going to happen at the regional level.
Even with an extremely nice showline dog, your chances of winning a national conformation competition is extremely slim. There are a lot of politics involved as there are in the upper echelons of working competitions. I have time for neither and would rather spend my time training with and trialing my dog than dealing with all of that BS. By the way, you'd have to get a time machine to win at NASS...for all practical purposes, the GSDCA-WDA is a defunct organization and there hasn't been a NASS since 2014.
Aside from Jen, some other breeders worth looking into would be Bill Kulla and Jennifer Acevedo (kulladogs.com) and Nate Harves (sportwaffenk9.com) but you need to be honest with any breeder about your experience level lest you run the risk of getting a dog that is way more dog than you want or need and, as Jen pointed out previously, that's not good for anyone. Be prepared to travel for the right dog.
Good luck in your search and feel free to contact me privately if you want any feedback on dogs, lines, breeders, etc. you're looking at. There are plenty of potential pitfalls if you're not familiar with the players.

Ok, "new and improved" Ruger.
Shoot me for saying this if you must, but unless I know the dog personally, and it's a clear photo (yours is small and not super clear), black and reds look the same to me.
Ruger is a common screenname and I didn't put them together. SORRY!
Have you worked things out with Prince to an acceptable level? Do you think a puppy would be safe with him? Remember, every time you bring a puppy into a home with an older dog, you run the risk of the puppy picking up behaviors- some good, some bad. So, if you have high goals for this one, I hope your husband is cognizant of the fact that you have to raise the pup with adjusted methods if your goal is high level sport and doesn't expect you to handle it right alongside Prince and have things work out great for sport. That would not be fair to either the puppy or you!
Best of luck with your decision! Check out what's been sent so far- you got some good info.

I've found the breeder list in the Files section of the German Shepherd Dog Breeders FB group to be a helpful resource.
