Wouldn't Ephedrine be the common ingredient in almost all of those or a form of amphetamine?

Looks like it. Not really sure though.

I believe labs do a second test on the basis of a positive.  Otherwise entire companies would not make it throug drug testing.

Remoine,
Pseudo ephedrine or Ephedrine which is commonly found in cold medicine is the main pharmaceutical type ingredient in Meth.   The ephedrine is extracted from over the counter cold type medicines amongst others and then manufactured into Meth.  That is why the medicines containing Pseudo ephedrine or Ephedrine are now behind the pharmacists counter and you have to sign for them.

Not that I want to enter this fray but I have to deal with the "street meth" versus "I had a cold and took meds meth" testing results in my job as a prosecutor.  It is amazing how many probationers say they have colds around the time that they have tested positive for meth ;-)  I pulled out a letter discussing this issue from my state's crime lab discussing the need for specialized testing (at least in my state) to differentiate between street meth and script meth and here it is in part:

Please be advised that this laboratory does not routinely differentiate between the d & 1 isomers of niethamphetarmne during our routine testing Isomer differentiation requires "special testing" and therefore is only done by special request

The d-isorrer is far more active pharmacologically than the 1-isomer and is the form predominantly found in so-called "street drug" methamphetamine and is schedule II controlled by both the Feds and Montana. The 1-isomer is found mainly in preparations like Vicks inhaler and is used because of it's brorichodilator, vasoconsirictor activity, and mild central activity. The I-isomer is still available over-the-counter and on line if someone wants to get a hold of some

If it is deemed necessary to do a chiral analysis to determine which isomeric form(s) is/are present then we would need to know by the submitting agency making a special request. Again, this is a special analysis which is both time consuming and somewhat expensive.

Just some interesting information regarding the various ways one can test positive for meth.

'Why not wait until all of the facts or details are released before adding more speculation?"

Jim

Why not ask Jeff Govednik why he saw fit to post one part of one of the reports that are back and neglected ti give any details. Ask the people who set up STOLEN and MURDERED FaceBook pages and are now suggesting that the presence of some sort of Meth means Dog Fighters and Murder by Meth?
Remione1 already listed some of the drugs that will test positive for Meth

also I believe that 1 should be an L.  It's been a while since i've taken a chem class, but D and L stand for dextrorotatory and levorotatory, which is a way of explaining where molecules are on isomers.  Not that this has much to do with the conversation, but just fyi.

Thomas,
I have not gone on any other sites regarding this.  I don't do facebook and I will be patient enough to wait for all of the information to form my opinion.

Z dog

I thought levorotatory was a fancy name for a bathroom?

Jim

That's fine but don't release partial reports designed to perpetuate the "murdered dog" scenario and keep the donations flowing and then say "oh don't speculate" like some are doing.
Don't say "wait for the report" and then have some say "the family will decide when (IF?) to release the report?

Thomas
