Mystere

"minimum hair shedding"--HOWLING! I never considered the possibility that house-keeping issues even counted among the factors. Ya think they just can't afford Dysons? :-)

Ignorant american pitt bull terrier owners switching to malinois??? Haven't heard that one before. I'm "TOLD" many have turned to the presa canario & cane corso. One breeder of presa's said that after the attack of the young lady in california who was killed by 2 presa canarios the volume of calls for her pups increased ten fold. I belive it.

Believe it, eisenhaus. The I-need-a-mean-dog-because-I'm-poorly-endowed crowd has discovered mals and dutchies as well. It's a slow trend right now and I'm hoping it stays that way then dies off. It's also alarming the number of high drive mals being sold to totally inexperienced pet owners as family dogs. I don't see as many pits as I used to, many towns around here ban them, apartment complexes don't allow them- but I've seen more mals in the last year than I have in the 10 before that, at a large, high traffic, boarding/training facility. I have other trainer friends who've told me the same, in my area.

Mystere, I can't afford a Dyson! LOL

Seriously, the people are LAZY. They don't want to do anything with a dog, they just want to have a dog, the image of having a tough dog, whatever. I swear, that's half of why most of them have the Am. Bully and not the true APBT. The true APBT is not unlike a Mal in terms of energy at times and athleticism, and often drive. The other things you see so often are couch potatoes which is right up their alley. Taking proper care of a high energy dog is not on their agenda. And with your pants so far down your ass, it's hard to keep up.

Kelly, I've seen it too. I live in the same general area and I have seen Mals here and there lately when I NEVER used to see them. Most people didn't even know what they were...now they're on Craigslist. I wonder who the hell is selling them to these morons.

Laugh and doubt all you want, those who don't believe Kelly, but it's true. She's in a situation to see the early part of the trend, before it explodes and the rest of the world catches on.

I recall my Ring friends stating flatly that Mals. were not family dogs and those of them with children didn't have them as pets a la Goldens. What I fear is that the morons among us will start crossing Mals and Pitbulls, as they used to do with pits and dobies (And let me tell you, those pit/dobes were tailor-made to he Hell Hounds in a horror movie. They were truly scary-looking!)

Jenn, you are killing me! I just do NOT understand the hanging pants. I don't even understand how they stay half up! LOL

I knew of one such cross, Mystere (Mal, Pit). PTS, all of them. :-(  What a horrendous cross- Mal prey drive and intensity, Pit Bull tenacity...really ugly. One lady tried her best for a year, but in the end had to accept that it was just too much liability.

"I-need-a-mean-dog-because-I'm-poorly-endowed crowd"  LOL!

For a while Pit-Danes were crossed and they were scarry too....... They were harnesed and used to pull some of the "Urban Animals" around.

Many were deaf, and most all were really stupid, poor temperament and they were HUGE.
