Who is "they" ?.

Mystere, no need to get all defensive. I understand where you are coming from and agree but there were helpers that have worked this dog but had no part of the foundation training on this dog. I would not want to see them get caught up in this mess for no reason other then working the dog to get him ready for a trial.
Jody had no control over this dog being sold to the Greene guy but she did know about the aggression he was showing to not only her husband but to her also. He was going to be sold once before but she could not go through with it but later she did sell him. The breeders also knew about the issues the dog was showing. I personaly never seen the dog go after anyone in the many times I have seen him. I am only going by what I was told by Jody herself.
This Greene guy had numerous issues with animal control and letting the dog run off leash in a public place. Shame on him for putting this dog in a sanctioned USCA event knowing the dog had aggression issues. He put the public at risk, period not once but numerous times.
Just because this dog was titled to a Sch 3 does not mean he is of sound temperment. The dog had issues period and again it is because of temperment, training and who owned the dog from the beginning to the end.

Faq2: Forgive my denseness, but I don't get it. Is Jody the original owner, and the woman in the photos on this site? WHY was the dog taught to bite hands? He wasn't being trained for schutzhund, because I don't imagine a helper wants to work a dog trained to go for his hands.. Somehow, that just does not make sense to me. Please enlighten me.

Denise,
I am not being defensive at all. I am simply stating, for the umpteenth time, that helpers have a serious risk of LEGAL liability, when they work dogs with questionable temperaments. Period. I state this, and specifically reference a region where my admonishment (which you call defensiveness) came to fruition. There were helpers who had not worked or seen the dog for a few years who were sued and ended up bankrupt from legal fees. One man nearly lost his business. I state this here for the benefit of helpers and potential helpers who simply may not have even thought of the risk they may take from not being more judicious about the dogs they work in protection.
I have also tried, mostly unsuccessfully, to convince people NOT to post their photos and videos of protection work on Youtube, Facebook, etc. IF, (heaven forfend) some incident were to occurr, those images may come back to bite you in the ass! The only photos or videos of bitework that I would post would be those featuring my Sch 3 male that I lost this week. There is no possibility of any "incident" occurring with him, so no risk of it coming back to bite me in the ass.
Now, I am done being "defensive" with advice, and casting pearls.

Mystere, what case was this? I would be curious to look it up on Lexis or was it settled out of court?.....Helpers (certified ones) are generally attached to clubs that carry insurance that are then linked through parent clubs....or are my wires crossed? If that is the case that is whole new bag of worms and could even go back further. Not sure what state takes precedence in this....I would be very curious to look up this case you are reffering to.
Anyway you look at it, it sucks.

The individual clubs carry their own insurance in USCA and DVG. No idea what the situation is in WDA. But, as many, if not most, are or have been USCA or DG clubs, I would imagine it is the same.
I will not identify the case on a public forum--the helpers involved have been through enough, and more than enough. No sense in pulling off the scab.

Mystere,
I too, would be interested in the case. Being public record and all. PM me with the case if you can so I can study it. Thanks!
