Elkorr hit a Gold mine with that litter... each and every one of them are STUNNING!

I wonder how the pup, Ava, is turning out.... I remember everyone oogling over her pics. :)

I'm sure she'll be a nice little pup, but for producing sake.  I would brefer a linebred dog for breeding consistency.

Last year I would have chosen a pup from a Henk/B-Vikar linebreeding on Tom v'L., if I could have.  This year, another linebred Tom litter caught my eye, F-vdHagenmuhle.  I very much wanted Bara when she was a pup, and they kept one back from her litter, named Frodo.

I saw Ava in a classified ad here the other day.  She looked stunning!

I used to think linebreeding was the only way to go for consistency, but then I stumbled upon a bitch who produced so consistently that I think a super strong damline may be a good alternative (if you can find one; I'm not under any sort of illusion that bitches like this are common). Her offspring seem to be as or nearly as strong as she is as far as producing, and grand pups are bearing a marked resemblance in both looks and temperament. I couldn't be happier that her genes are showing themselves so clearly, especially in later generations. I will be keeping a few around to linebreed back on in several generations and see if I can't get some real consistency going on. I could easily forget sometimes that Anya is a granddaughter and not a daughter. There are a few things about her that are "totally Capri," though she got her gorgeous pigment from her Momma, Tonga. smiley

Daryl, you may appreciate this; part of what I really liked about Anya's dam is that her dam was truly a herding dog- not titled in a staged environment, but actually working sheep before being imported for breeding. I think a lot of what we've lost/are losing could be brought back w/more of this blood. I was really happy to bring those lines into my program (if you can really call it that) and Anya was a great way to combine those lines I would never have access to anymore w/Capri. So far, I'm very happy and I think the others are as well. Sina has a good eye; she bought Apache when Tonga was old enough that she knew what she had. Good combination from what I can tell thus far.

Gorgeous pups everyone.Molly, excuse my ignorance here on showline plus working line, BUT, are you the same molly graf that used to say showline can't work but now advertise working showline on your website? And are you now crossing showline/workingline pups out of your own breeding program? And selling the lesser of the two lines-that being the showline- for more money?
Guess that proves the old addage, money talks and bull%&*$ walks!
