We have all owned a "pet" at one point or another. To pretend anything else is just absurd!

I guess I was referring not to the original post but to some of the posters.
Sorry if that caused confusion. I work at a shelter and see many GSD puppies from some of the self -announced "pet dog owners" that wanted their dog, that originally was only meant for companionship and had a limited registration, to re-produce with the neigbor dog of the same breed for just one time and nobody wanted the puppies....

Really? I would call them lying, Back Yard Breeders, not "self-announced 'pet dog owners,' ".
And I haven't met anybody like that either, but I live in a real civilized part of the world.

A good post but when I read some individuals thoughts I wonder....... Does anyone person love their dog or dogs less then the next? Just because of titles or training? Or none? I would hope not. I have service dogs, I could say the true essence of "working" but I don't think like that. I think my dogs are great and at times the best. But never for a second would think they are better than another. Or think that since they "work" they are better than those that "work" on a field. My 9 yr old as I have stated in other posts was being trained for a PSD but the politics prevented that from taking place. So, it's like having a Ferrari sitting in the driveway. No where to go. We still train, bite work, PP and his heart is still in it and he's still a force. Just missed his window per se. And you have to feel for him when your with the service dog, putting on your uniform and his eyes are keen to you asking if it's his turn to work?
My Service dog, an Explosive Detection Dog works and my two females are being trained to hopefully be certified. It's an awesome job, great money, unfortunately the threat is REAL. My K9 bud and I always talk and train and one of his comments when I first started after leaving my Department was. K9 bud: "hey, at times for whatever reason if a K9 misses the "find", we still all go home. But if your K9 misses the "find" then someone is going to get hurt or possibly die"
It's definitely an eye opener especially if you're downrange or in a hostile area/zone. They are tools. Tools that enhance a humans' capabilities.
But all the dogs are my companions! My pets and I spend more time with them than humans. And 95-98% they go everywhere with me. Doesn't matter if it's one mile or a weekend road trip.
