So, Hunger4justice, do you believe there is a conspiracy since a truck driver admitted to hitting the dog?

Justice,

Absolutely, there's no doubt 'the system' likely fails at times; however, how many cases did you present where a person ADMITTED they took part in a crime, yet the lawyers continued 'to turn every stone' in search of a person to blame?  Sounds counterproductive to me.  Last week on this site you noted a conversation w/ Al Govednik and the fact that Hex was wearing a leather collar the morning he disappeared and that collar was not on him the day he was found deceased, yet, in the news interview, Al held up a metal fur-saver and claimed that style was exactly like the one Hex was wearing.  Dr. Venema reports in the autopsy, "...The animal is wearing a slightly rusted chain collar...".  I'M LOST?!  The version of this story continues to change :(

The last I read, some anonymous caller said they hit the dog.  Where is the info that a semi truck driver admitted to hitting him?

Red Sable,

The police report provides details of the truck driver's statement, noting the time of day, location, and weather conditions.  The driver described the accident and informed the officer, "...had contacted the Govedniks and told them about hitting their dog."  Obviously the driver's name has been omitted from the report, can you imagine how awful the driver must've felt?!  It really is a sad situation!  Empower yourself and read the report; it's on numerous sites now.

Chaz,

This whole search for an alternative answer blows my mind?!  The driver came forward to the Govedniks AND the police, additionally the "preliminary autopsy" (whatever that means??) supports the driver's statement.  We're all waiting to see what the toxicology will provide.  Essentially we'll learn what the dog ate in the days prior to passing and what prescription medicines he'd possibly ingested.  Obviously they are not satisfied with the outcome, or else they would walk away and not continue to seek "justice", again, was does justice have to do with an accident of this nature.  I surely hope the Govedniks are not pursuing the identity of this poor driver!!  What are we all missing here??  There's something we don't know...

The truck driver's identity IS known. It was not an "anonymous call,"per the police report.

Where I come from, if we hit a dog, we drive in and tell the owners right away, face to face.
Anyway, thanks, I'll see if I can download the police report.

Mystere,

Can you imagine the guilt that poor man/woman is feeling?!  Every site has a group of enthusiasts prepared to do harm on them.  I'd be terrified :(  That group of individuals is failing to curb their emotions (which were fueled by hasty accusations), they should step back and put themselves in the DRIVER'S shoes; it could've been anyone on the rainy highway that morning!  I, too, was extremely upset in the beginning, wanting the 'bad guys' to be found and the dog returned.  It appears most of us thought that the people publishing the sites knew what had happened and surely were involved in the search and rescue; however, since having read the official police report some of us have quickly began to look at things from a different perspective and now it seems all of these questions are popping up.  People are questioning the donations, where are they going, what is the PI trying to determine, when will the completed autopsy be available, what is the concern with the collar, etc. ????  For example, the person that is the Administrator on "Bring Hex Home" states, "The preliminary necropsy results pointed toward foul play..."  Who is this person and what report do they have access to??  The police report, which includes the results from the University of IL, states nothing of the sort.  These professionals surely wouldn't close a case they considered to point at 'foul play'.  I just don't get it, there's a piece of this puzzle missing.

Red Sable,

I would've stopped too :(  Even if I knew there wasn't hope to save the animal dog/deer/cat, I'd want to check on it.

I don't have time to read the entire 12 pages since last time I visited this thread.
I donated. I don't regret it. Al lost his beloved dog and I feel awful for him.
I donated to Al, not the dog... in hopes it will help Al and his family get some peace of mind, regardless of the outcome of their investigation.
He can use my donation for whatever he wants, and welcome to it.

Logging off now.
