Fawn- why I am opposed is because not everyone just throws their dogs in the yard and hopes that the fence will suffice.
I would think that all of our German Shepherds have the ability to jump the fence. In fact there are many breeds that can, and do.
That is what I was referring to when I said there are responsible pet owners. Those that actually live with their dogs, and do things with them. When I send a puppy off, I am questioning how the dog Iis going to live his life. I do not want my dogs being an outside yard ornament, or a dog that lives half his life in a crate or kennel.
I want them to become "part of that family/persons life". Not something to be taken out and put away as time allows.
You do not need to have a 6 foot fence around your house to be a good dog owner, sorry, but that's ridicules.
This is the reason so many perfectly wonderful dogs are destroyed everyday.
Do you think death or life in the dog pounds little pen and cement slab is better. They sell collars and leashes for a reason.
