One usually goes hand in hand; they don't care for the kids why the H- - - would they care for their poor dogs.?? Very sad but it never seizes to amaze me how much the general public does not know about raising and rearing animals; extremely sad. One would think just the news channels information would be a wake up call, but guess not. HUG YOUR DOGS everyone. Feed them well, enjoy every minute with them as their lives are soooooooo short. Great days everyone, Nan

Here is the problem in a nutshell. I moved out to the country
over 20 yrs. ago from St. Louis Mo. Boy, I'm getting old. Anyway
I've been going thru the same stuff all along too. I do know this
DO NOT MENTION IT TO THE NEIGHBOR your having the problem with !
THEY do not care !! I've even had one tell me that is why they moved
to the country " so I can let my dogs run loos " ! Are u kidding me ?
I say this in caps because they do not care about their dogs no matter
what they say. People in the country just go get another dog, if there's
gets hit by a car or whatever. They will not do anything to keep their
dog on their own property. There is no leash law in the country here.
BUT there is a state law, that says you can protect yourself, family and
livestock. Do not say out loud to anyone especially the cops about
shooting an animal in this manner. The dogs will eventually come up
missing, gone when people get tired of it. My resolution is catch the
dog if it continues and take it to animal rescue where they will for sure
adopt it out, or to a family that will take better care of it (nowhere near you)
This might sound harsh, but I/you care more about the dog than the
owners do ! They don't care if the dog gets poisoned, hit by a car,
shot or whathaveyou. Look up the statues about the law, and contact
a humane society and see if they know it too.
The cops out here DO NOT know, all they have done is say "there's no
leash law " and say you have the right to defend your property. You
unfortunately have to take matters in your own hands. Quite frankly I
have enough dog poop to clean up without worrying about the neibhbors
dogs in my yard, picking up trash, having them bother my dogs at night
coming over here. etc etc

I almost forgot. As of now I have renters across the street from me. They
rent a nice house on 3 acres. They have a large Great dane, large mixed
breed dog, and now a small dog too. I very seldom can even go out in my
pasture to train, play with my own dogs. If those dogs are out they run over
here on my property. My dogs are sound, but don't want dogs on their
property so will either run them off, or get into a fight. We live on a
one way in and out road, and people drive fast here. I am afraid my dogs
will chase them off our property and get hit by a car. I have to walk my
dogs on my own property on a LEASH sometimes ! I did even go to court
once about this and told the Judge this and he was dumb founded. Is this
fair to me ? Those people did starting keeping their dog on their property.
They eventually lot long after did move away.
This is the same property across the street, as they rent it out. Well I haven't
done this yet, but the owner of the property comes
by and cuts the grass, next time will talk with him and see if anything gets done.
The dogs also chase cars as they go by and are a nuisance b cause they go
into the street when they do this, and an accident is bound to happen. Again
catch the dog and re home it ! If it comes on your property you can do this.

Hmmm what to do? I can tell you that after having dogs shit on my grass over and over with owners standing right there watching them do it then calling me a bitch for telling them to take their dog shit right along with them, or catching some nut woman and her 5 DOGS do the same thing with a park 5 houses down the street, I am less kind these days to owners who have rocks for brains. Cat people are no different, worse actually for thinking that cats should have the right to dig up my plants and crap in the bedding areas. Not too many rescues will take in stray dogs because of the fact that there are legalities associated with doing it. I am one of them.
Here is what you could do:
Do what Ladyfrost did and install the water sprayers that spray the dogs when they come over.
Trap the dogs and take them to the shelter
Shoot them with something less deadly than a bullet
I wouldn't waste breath on people who as Lovethyshepherd said, could give a rats ass about the dogs or what they do. That mentality doesn't go away with talking to them. I wouldn't threaten them either because as soon as the dogs go missing, even if you had zero to do with that, you will be blamed and could be retaliated on. I'm a fence person myself. Just makes life easier. I would consider that even if you are opposed to it. Sometimes taking the high road as said, is less stressful but if your addement about not doing it, then take a stand and be prepared for the fallout.

Fencing my yard wouldn't be feasible, as we have 20 acres and it would cost a fortune to re-fence all the land.. I have chicken coops and dog pens, but I don't feel like I should have to keep my animals confined, as they stay on our property. I do pen my dogs up, if we leave or not out to supervise them. I just feel bad that my dog hurt that little dog, even if it was on my porch. Since I've been having my male chase off their other 2 dogs, they haven't been back.. I know he won't really hurt them, and he just chases them to the edge of our land.. I gave in and went and checked on the little dog, gave them antibiotics and wound salve I had.. She just had some punctures.. I also reported to the school counselor about the kids, she said she is going to file a report, since she and another teacher have noticed the kids poor hygiene and lack of care.. Hopefully the lady will pull her head out of her butt..

well...with all the rain and little yapper not approaching my fence but still barking i had to disconnected my sprinkler.....however i purchased new and improved system that works "both ways" gets neighbors dog to stay quiet and if mine get riled up due to yappers presence it shuts them up too...
i had put this up about 10 feet into my own yard onto a tree facing neighbors house so it covers my fence line from inside and 50 feet out (highest setting on the device)....any dog that is approaching you or your dogs will be barking...well the little mutt has been running up towards my yard barking but stayed far away that sprinkler would not activate and of course my dogs would respond...so...1st time i put this up...dog was running towards my yard barking and once this thing got activated OMG that dog ran in a big circle away from its own house into the other neighbor yard and owners had to run after him...this thing works like a charm, humans cant hear it, the only time i hear barking is when battery dies but that happened only once about 3 months after i purchased it....our neighbors mutt now is a good and silent citizen who does not even look into our direction unless we are out doing yard work than it barks and runs back into his own house....the funny thing is we used to hear that dog bark inside their house and wonder how in the world do they live with that...well now this dog does not bark even inside the house, not only did we solve our issue but did neighbors a huge and silent favore...LOL..
I would highly recommend it - best $39.00 (including shipping) i ever spend!!!!
I am sure it would work on neighbors dogs if they bark while approaching your yard....
