I haven't done any breedings in over 20 years and haven't kept up with the rules. does the male need DNA for first breeding?

I look at the fees as the cost of doing business with AKC. In a case like this expensive, sure. Extortion I just don't see. Few businesses provide their services for free.

The sire of my female was an import, and yes, he had to be DNA'd in order for his first litter to be registered with AKC. Getting that litter registered was a nightmare both the breeder and I would prefer to forget....Confused Smile

Males and females imported need DNA with AKC to register a litter by them. The DNA is only to prove parentage of offspring, not to prove what breed the dog is. That to me is where AKC is not consistent. Unless pups must be DNA'd, the parent's DNA is frivolous. Just another mandatory expense they impose.

Abandonsdad : i breed by the german standards , i only asked .
Are your dogs AD, BH, SchHtitled, breed surveyed, HD/ED x-rayed, do they have a show result?
If they are not, you are NOT breeding by the German standards - sorry.
