Kim . Now I would think there might be some other things "rolled into" it. Just depends on the person/dog. Some (people) might be in touch with animals/dogs more than humans? More than other other humans? Maybe they're on a "deeper" level? So on and so on. A "dog lover" compared to a non-"dog lover".........

A dog trained to do a job of work will do that job of work regardless of who is handling it so long as the handler is experinced with dogs in general and knows the correct commands to help the dog, that Dog will do the job.
On the other hand in real life a Dog may love its handler but not respect him or her,
A Bond between some dogs and a  human is a special thing and it cannot be put down in words it is a feeling you have in your gut and i guess the dog feels the same
