Have you read any of the articles posted recently regarding the capture of Bin Laden? The spec ops dogs have gotten a lot of coverage.

It's not the kind of thing I would discuss on a public forum. I will say that their control, tactics and training are really impressive. The dogs are in incredible shape as the handlers are. I am going to see one of their dogs that was retired then donated to a PD tomorrow. The handler transferred to a different unit and they offered the dog to a neighboring city. I can't wait to work the dog. I think the dog is 6 years old and has had numerous deployments over the past 4 years or so.

What happens to these dogs if a PD cant take them? PTS?
I am sure they dont get adopted out to civilians.

In my area, there is a military vet and his wife that have a farm where retired military dogs go to live a peaceful life if they are not able to be adopted by civilian families. : )

I would perfer even more that they would not say at all the breed of the dog used.
I say that in hopes of not messing the breed more than they already are.
