"Yes it's true that henry county closed the case, good... Why waste resourses when someone admitted to hitting the dog, however, if you READ and UNDERSTAND the report (that was blacked out I might add) one part says the dog was hit a quarter mile away from his home by a truck, not a semi truck a truck. Then how did he appear in a ditch across the street infront of the house? Did he seal flop from a 1/4 mile away with the severity of the injuries that he had sustained? If you look at the opionion given by the vet, it says SOME of the injuries were pre mortem, just some not ALL. The rest were post mortem. This is part of the police report along with a email from a club member. The report that was posted said 33 page necropsy, in fact it was 29 pages of a police report, 4 pages of a interm (not complete) necrospy and a 2 page email... For petes sake people get it right...."

Instead of picking and choosing sections out of context and miss interrpreting and misquoting what was said. I'd suggest people read the report themselves. It's in the file section of the Grassroots Yahoo Group

http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/GrassrootsUSA/

A 85 lb dog hit by a 10 ton Semi traveling at 70? MPH will fly a LONG way. A dog dead on impact "might" have additional injuries when he hits the ground (post mortem) but related to the accident.  The black out (redacted) parts are to protect privacy, there are no hidden agendas or secrets.

Your characterization of anyone that questions the story as "finger pointing, accusing, stabbing, spitting venom at one another? Those against Al accuse him of all kinds of crap, from asking for money to GOD only know what." is tyical of the whole atmosphere that surrounded this story fromt beginning. There are too many inconsistancies in the story being told here and on the facebook page. If the Govednik family doesn't agree with some of the things being said? It' s time for them to say so.

Semi's sit up pretty high, I think the dog would go underneath it.

What happened to the collar?

Thomas, what kind of a statement do you want the family to say?  They have already stated that it is their belief that Hex was stolen and that they were waiting for the final results and for the Private Investigator reports.

How can you defend against statements like the club member wrote to the police suggesting that they check into certain friends of the family and see if they own large freezers?  Or like the letter written to USA saying that members of a club feel accused and it's not fair?

What the heck do you say?

In all honesty I don't know what I would do it their position.  I think I would try and take the high road and not add fuel to the fire but would end up failing miserably and making the situation worse.

But either way I hope you had a good Thanksgiving!

Holy 5#!+! I can't believe I finally read this whole thread. One way or another, someone has some explaining to do.

Per the necropsy report I just read from Dobermannman's link, it states the dog was brought in wearing a slightly rusted chain collar.

Even as I type this, I know I should probably stay out of it, but for the record, I need to say this:  I offered Al one of my puppies FREE because I was financially unable to give him cash to find out what happened to his dog. It was not conditional upon outcome, circumstances, fault, guilt, innocence, etc. I told him he could take him and keep him (if he was ready) or sell him to a good home and use the money toward Hex's memorial fund.   He refused, saying he didn't think it was over and wouldn't feel comfortable putting another dog in danger until this was solved. I heard no accusations, no malice or anger, nothing at all like what I hear from the "other" side (who may or may not be correct that the dog simply got hit by a car). To me, it doesn't sound like someone out for monetary gain by exploiting their dead dog, REGARDLESS OF HOW HE DIED. Just my opinion...

Is a dog less dead or less missed whether he was stolen first or not? I fail to see where the hostility is coming from here. I immediately reached out to Al (call me naive, stupid, whatever...) because if it were my dog missing, I'd be in a straightjacket. I wouldn't wish that on anyone.

Thomas...

You are either part of the solution or part of the problem, in my view you are the latter of the two. Why not wait until all of the facts and complete reports are in and then make your judgements?

Have a nice day.

GSDmom, I don't know Thomas personally, but from what I do know, he is not one to just start shit.

by GSDmom56 on 26 November 2011 - 05:11

Chaz - then why does he?
