So the local police closed an investigation pending new information. How is that significant? Personally I think that is a prudent use of taxpayers money, I know my local department would not have the resources to keep it open, they are a bit busy and understaffed protecting people....
Just because injuries are consistent with a motor vehicle does not mean that it is the only explanation or that the injuries were accidental. Does anyone think that that poor dog was able to crawl 6 inches with those injuries?
Why does the investigation make so many people unhappy? I have seen no one accused of anything. I have read people's letters to the police department (part of that public record) and have seen letters posted that had been sent to USA saying that they felt accused but I have seen no accusation.............
So some friends of the dogs owners decided to fund raise because of what they feel is unanswered questions. Donate or not as you feel is right.
A member of my family was recently the victim in a home invasion. There are medical reports, police reports. I'm sure a lot of the information is available through the Freedom of Information Act. Just because you can get it, wouldn't make it right.
What is wrong with just allowing the family to do what they feel like they need to do in order to get closure?

If the family wants privacy then don't ask the public for donations.
Don't start face book pages titled STOLEN AND MURDERED GSD when neither has been proven and in fact
the only official report refutes that claim.
Don't state during a TV interview that "the injuries were post mortem" when the Vet that did the
necropsy says that is NOT true.
Don't be asking for people to not speculate, when the speculation started with the first police report when
it was claimed that a white van was seen and the law suits were mentioned.
Why wouldn't you want the public to read the official police report from an unbiased entity?
Hex died the day he went missing hit by a semi and knocked into the ditch by the force of the impact.
Watch the TV video

right during the first 30 seconds. It would be very easy to overlook a dogs body in that location.
IMO it is irresponsible to make false statements about the injuries being post mortem, when the Vet who did the necropsy tells the police that is an inaccurate statement. Making accusations that someone had it in for you and stole and murdered your dog with NO proof is dangerous and has led to an online lynch mob. Thankfully no one has taken the law into their own hands in real life.

When I reported my car vandalized which later proved to be a very inept attempt at theft the first question the cop asked me was had I been involved in any type of disputes and was there anyone in particular I suspected.
I don't understand all the taking it personally about the white van. Big deal, he saw a white or light colored van..... My dog vehicle is a white van and even if I lived next door to him I would not take that statement as a personal accusation.
If my hands are clean why would it bother me if anyone believes the death of Hex was done deliberately? Even if I believed that it was accidental?
The report I saw was a prelim one really did not do much more then put into record the condition of the body and inventoried the broken bones. I believe it also stated that lab results were pending. I do not recall any mention of scavenger activity which I would expect if it had laid there long. I live on 10 acres surrounded by fields and it is normally pretty obvious if there is a dead deer or something in a field that may be 20 acres from my property.
And that is discounting all the people that searched.
Has anyone that bought a bracelet or donated money feel that it was under false pretense? If they do, have they contacted the fundraisers asking for a refund, that they felt duped?
I don't know what happened to poor Hex and I may never know. If the family has unanswered questions and friends or strangers want to help them financially in order to get some of the questions answered that doesn't bother me at all.
If I had donated I would not expect to see anything until the investigation was completed by the private investigator.
It's a very sad situation all around.

I agree that this is a very sad situation. The problem I have is, this has been sold as a "stolen dog" from the
get go. Look at the title of this thread. The statement in the first post that the dog was seen "being put into a whiite or cream color van" is suspect, given what we know now. I"m sure there are some that will never accept any report as being conclusive, but the simplist scenario is usually the most logical. I think Facebook
pages saying Hex was stolen and MURDERED with no substantiation are dangerous.

Why are some of you finger pointing, accusing, stabbing, spitting venom at one another? Those against Al accuse him of all kinds of crap, from asking for money to GOD only know what.
Fact HEX THE GSD IS DEAD
Fact HEX THE GSD IS DEAD
Fact HEX THE GSD IS DEAD
Yes it's true that henry county closed the case, good... Why waste resourses when someone admitted to hitting the dog, however, if you READ and UNDERSTAND the report (that was blacked out I might add) one part says the dog was hit a quarter mile away from his home by a truck, not a semi truck a truck. Then how did he appear in a ditch across the street infront of the house? Did he seal flop from a 1/4 mile away with the severity of the injuries that he had sustained? If you look at the opionion given by the vet, it says SOME of the injuries were pre mortem, just some not ALL. The rest were post mortem. This is part of the police report along with a email from a club member. The report that was posted said 33 page necropsy, in fact it was 29 pages of a police report, 4 pages of a interm (not complete) necrospy and a 2 page email... For petes sake people get it right....
Now for the donations - Fact - Never did I see, hear or read any Govednik ask for money - Someone else started the Hex Memorial Bracelet fund. Someone else started the FB pages, someone else named the pages - again not a Govednik. If you read the FB pages you can clearly see that the money has NOT gone to a Govednik, period. Per the FB pages any remaining money after expenses goes to charity, not a Govednik. All of this infornation is avaliable on Face Book, nothing new.
How many times are you all going to post the same thing, same complaints, same bs? I for one am done !!!

No matter the reason Hex died, I would donate all over again, his story just touched me, I would never want anyone to go thru the "not knowing what happened to my dog".
by Betty on 26 November 2011 - 00:11
You, I, and the rest of the world do not have to agree that the dog was stolen Thomas, but the owners do seem to think it. Be that Hex really was stolen or be it a grief coping mechanism, where is the harm to anyone who's hands are clean as far as further investigating Hex's disappearance and death? Contributions are entirely voluntary, it's not like any one is being forced to help underwrite the costs of the investigation.
