Thank you everyone for your kind thoughts and wishes.

Myasthenia Gravis can go into remission indefinitely or it can reoccur periodically throughout the lifetime of a dog.....it just depends on the dog and his/her level of the disease.

In Cisco's case I don't know yet.......I haven't had the detailed chat/prognosis with the Neaurologist....that's scheduled for Monday morning.

Last night, we started him on 60mg tables, 1/2 pill 3x a day, of Mestinon.

This morning he jumped on the bed.......before I could stop him.......he hasn't been able to walk, let alone exert that level of strength, in over 3 weeks......So I'm doing a very Happy Dance today ClownTeeth Smile.

I too was surprised to hear of this in dogs.  I am very familiar with it in humans.  Myotonic muscular dystrophy runs in my family.  Any of the muscular dystrophies are bad.  Regardless if it is a human family member or a canine family member going through any of this is heart wrenching.  I am sorry that your dog is having to endure this, but at the same time I am glad Cisco has such a loving and caring owner and willing to help him through this.

OMG.....I'm so happy I'm crying tears of joy........
After 60 days of (Mestinon) medication treatment's Cisco's re-test for Myesthenia Gravis came back negative today.
His neurologist feels strongly that he's in the clear and we wont have to worry about this disease ever again.....ClownTeeth Smile.

That is awesome news. Made my day for sure. I was thinking about Cisco the other day too.
Thanks for the links that you posted awhile ago. I have looked at them quickly, but will read in depth on them over the weekend.

So glad to hear Cisco is out of the woods for now, and hopefully forever. He has certainly had more than his fair share of ill health and pain in his short life. Poor boy. He's very fortunate to have you!
