A section for minors would no doubt be helpful.
Like all forums boards, people can be harsh, difficult, etc. We have all no doubt experienced it.
As for informing us that she is an 11 year old girl - this is the internet, where men are men, women are men, and little children are the FBI.

"this is the internet, where men are men, women are men, and little children are the FBI"
Best thing I've read all day... LOL!!!
I agree though. I've been surfing around the internet since I was oh, 12 or so? My dad couldn't stress enough to me every day how careful I needed to be, and now as an adult, I see why he was so concerned. I never understood it then, but boy do I now. There are some real freaks out there, and you can never be too careful! Trust no one! And now I have a little half sister (moms kid, big age difference), and she's just getting to the age where she is playing on the internet. For awhile she played on a site called Animal Jam, a National Geographic thing, made for kids to learn about animals. Her parents made it very clear that she was not allowed to chat on there, however they caught her once and she got in big trouble, but they still let her play. So *I* made an account on there and I would log on and watch her and stuff, make sure she was being good, and she was... but man, even on a good informative game like that, there were some WACKO's! She has since moved on to something else, and I hope her parents are monitoring her closely still. It makes me sick wondering what she is/was telling people before they caught her chatting.
Heh, and a friend of my dad's caught his 7 y/o telling someone what school they went to and what city they lived in... if that doesn't make you sick I don't know what will!!

A 'youth' section might be a great idea, there can be places for youth to
discuss sport, conformation etc. I do agree, no PM access etc.

Don't you think a "Youth" section would open up the door for those predators that are looking for somebody young. That just weeds out the children for them. No guessing if the poster is lying about their identity - now they know where to look.
Just my opinion.

You do have a point Yogie, but if the junior can neither post or receive private messages, predators would only be able to contact them on an open forum.

Personally, some of the language used here and the rudeness some display would be enough to make me not want to approve this board for an 11 year old child. There are plenty of other forums that are much more age appropriate for kids than this one.
