I've alway had males up until recently.
My males were more likely to roam, and if they like truck rides, were more willing to go with someone in their vehicle.
My female is the most loyal dog I"ve ever had.
She takes a correction stonger than all of the males I've had except one. He was a dominant dog.
My males tended to be protective of the property, she is of me and the property.
My male dogs bonded closer with men, my female loves women.
Males grow larger, have fuller coats, and that is the biggest difference IMO, otherwise MOST of it is genetics.

LadyFrost -

It's a play on words, 'chatting about dogs', plus German
translation = 'dogmother' ( which is what I was to my
boss's kennel dogs, when I thought it up. Then I joined here
and every other poster was some dog's 'mom' ! ). LoL.

I am a die hard male lover. Had females over the years and most I found to be clingy which is something that drives me batty. None of my males have really been the cuddly type but they seem more calm as they age. Males when in a disagreement with another dog will usually scrap, decide who is top dog, then let it go. Not the girls. They hold grudges. I have found this applys not just to shepherds.
I will say though had a shepherd female, when she came into heat, actually fought dogs to keep them out of her yard. If that isn't a bitch for you, don't know what is.

Good thing I found a "studly" male for her. Kept a pup back and was probably the best shepherd Ive ever had.
