Stool good now. We'll see how it goes.

Interesting read. I dont feed Acana, but Wellness. Them too added recently peas and pea fiber to there formulas. My dogs poo started to look more greenish than brownish and they were gassy. I switched from the Wellness core to the Ocean Core, more expensive but better results.
They also replaced the rice with potatoe in the LID formulas. I wonder if those changes relate to being able to buy the ingredients price worthy on the US market instead of depending on imports.

Meant to add that the kibble too looks lighter in color and the LID formula for my alergic male looks more "airier", almost like puffs.

"Airier" might scare me, especially in a dog w/a sensitive stomach. I would worry about bloat. Might be silly, but I would probably still worry.

I asked Acana about the new formula when the sheets went up on the site and never really got my questions fully answered. I did get an answer that they have some exciting new changes in store for Orijen this fall as well.....hmmm..... I *was* considering Orijen but this is wait and see....

I do not perceive the changes to Acana to be good ones. Its not just moving the peas higher but having three different types of peas which if combined as "peas" may be even higher on the list.  I am still waiting for an answer from a few months ago on what is the MAX Calcium in the food as they only list min.  Also the fish formula has added canola oil, why on earth!?! Most Canola is GMO to boot.

It seems that they have not been actually bought out, but have a new major investor but the original owners still are involved. I don't know why they changed their formula, but people who have contacted them directly got a very polite response. I am a suspicious person and polite responses downplaying the formulation changes particularly after a new major investor joins up, gives me a hinky feeling (It's professional marketing). Usually such changes are in order to produce more economically. Not saying that's the case but it certainly bears scrutinizing. I do not like it that Champion Feeds told their retailers that it is a very minor change when you can see above that the formulation changes, at least in my view, are quite significant. So far my two GSDs are doing fine with the new formula, but after they finish the two new bags, I should know if they are doing as well or if I'll simply go back to feeding raw.
