Truth hurts eh?

Nothing truthful about it, since my pups WILL be AKC registered. I've only stated that I could care less about AKC, and that's not the same as what YOU say I say. Most breeders don't register their puppies before they are sold. Scandalous, isn't it?

Daryl,
Why would you think I was referring to you?  Especially, if all of your dogs are AKC registered?  It could just be a general statement about what some breeders do.

True, but does that really say much? I mean, the dogs that are registered are just sad. Nothing is responsible except AKC papers, and really all that does is add to their money pile

Heck, even AKC papers aren't really a guarantee about a dog's true parantage. The only way to get that is a DNA test. AKC just prints lovely words on pretty paper for price.

Would you even consider paying $1,000 to 1,500 for a puppy that doesn't have papers?  Would you consider a dog from a breeder that may not be able to register the litter?

I wouldn't consider buying a pup for any price from people who leave their dogs on chains, whose dogs have numerous health issues, who breed before they're even 2, who don't bother checking hips, elbows or genetic tests. I don't care if AKC papers are involved or not.

IMO most people don't need to be breeding dogs, BUT especially those who don't have their dogs health tested and registered at the very least. Too many homeless dogs out there already, not to mention the thousands that are euthanized everyday. Ask Steph from Montana GSD rescue, she'll tell you...

I can agree with that one one level, but on the other hand, just because there's too many people in the world, I shouldn't be denied my own right to have children.  And if I father the next president, it's not like the child would require a valid birth certificate.

I just found out about 10 minutes ago, that it is not mandatory for US breeders to micro chip or tattoo their dogs, and it seems if it is not required they don't.
I now understand what you guys mean when you say the AKC registration means nothing.
So here I am wanting to register 2 AKC dogs CKC and now I have to get them tattooed or micro chipped as adults?   What a royal pain in the ass.
I really should have checked into this sooner, but I wasn't worried about who they were registered with until now as I've sold one back to the States and in order to transfer the dog out of my name I have to first register it with the CKC.
Do any US breeders tattoo or micro chip their puppies before selling them to Canada?
