Seems like it may be a good fit if Mica is the type of dog that barks at strangers when they come near the home and yard.  I have sent my in-laws Jenni's contact info.

NE corner. Shouldn't be bad at all. She's a big girl; shipping would be more expensive than the dog, probably. We would also like it if someone picked her up in person just to make sure this is the right match. Poor dog has had enough transition for one life.

She's not in a position to display that behavior right now, but she has behaved that way in a normal home situation. Right now, she's w/several other dogs on a huge property where no strangers ever enter, so she may not appear to be super territorial at first glance. She has had at least one live bite that we know of. I just really like her and would bring her home under different circumstances.

Have them email me; I'll put them in touch w/her "foster."

The dog will not likely display territorial behavior until it is in its new home long enough to feel that it is her home.

This most likely wont be well received. Posts like this just make me crazy. Fact is, if they want the dog to protect them from the get go, they buy a protection dog. There is absolutely no way to know what the dog will do esp in a new home and it's not fair to the dog. I've had requests like this in the past for rescue dogs and now I just pass that request right on by. Great that the person is up front for what they want but as soon as the dog doesn't work out for its intended purpose, its out and another dog takes it's place. 

I also seem to recall seeing a few posts in the classified section for dogs that fit this description, mfh27, which were being 'rehomed' for a placement fee...check under both males and females.

Bhaugh, I have to say after speaking with the woman, I didn't get impression whatsoever. She could not have been nicer, nor more realistic in her expectations from a dog, which I feel this dog would exceed, should they choose her.

Red flags always go up for me when I hear of someone looking for a protection dog that is free or for a cheap price,  add to that children and I become really guarded.  If someone cannot afford to purchase a well bred dog and is looking for a short cut rather then doing the work that is needed to train it with the family I always wonder how the older dog is going to be treated.  I am not saying this is the case just the nagging thoughts I always have with situations like this.  And of course will the dog get the attention it really needs to fit in with the family or is it going to be a situation where a job is expected and its left to just roam the yard and basically ignored.  Maybe I am being to careful but these are things that bother me.  Also I am not sure what your refering to as a prison dog.  Was this dog working in a prison setting until it was retired?  You also said it had one bite on its record I think.  If this is correct then I would really not be considering this dog in a family setting to begin with, especially with children.  She may be fine when there is a cotrolling adult around but what will she be like when shes alone with the child and the child gets out of hand.  Just a few concerns I would have. She wants a dog that is protective, one that puts on a show, just a deterrent, not a "protection dog".  
To me, that shouldn't be that hard of a task to find.  I've had them all my life and  no one has sued me yet.

Oh my God, people! Just relax! Some things aren't nearly as sordid as you'd like to make them. Where did they say the dog had to be cheap? They simply said they don't need a particular pedigree, or even papers since they don't want to breed and would consider a rescue. I have an 11+yr old dog from AC. Does that mean I like cheap dogs only because I don't want to spend money and don't want to make a real commitment? Are you listening to yourselves?   

Steve, no offense, but I don't need your internet evaluation of a dog I know personally to help me decide if she will fit in a home with children, and to suggest a dog with live bites cannot live with children tells me that until you understand dogs a little better, particularly stable, trained dogs, this conversation is moot. I also don't think Michele put this up to get opinions whether or not her in laws are deserving of a dog and questions as to their motives. If she didn't think they would treat a dog well, I highly doubt she'd give them MY contact info...as if I'd put a dog w/just any old idiot off the street. I guarantee you, no one is more careful than I when I place a dog. Besides, she thinks I'm a real pain in the ass, so if she didn't think I may know of a good dog, she'd probably save her in laws the trouble.

Why can't someone just ask for help online, receive it, and have other people accept that maybe the situation is under control? As RS said, what she's asking for is really no big deal at all!
