I live in IL. also. Sad to say. We are now the only state in the union with no conceal and carry. I do have plenty of guns and plenty of GSD's. I feel safe. I also would go to your nearest Sch club to get an evaluation of your GSD. You don't have to go for a title, but would be a good place to start to see if this GSD will be able to protect. Work on bonding till you figure out what to do. Never saw a bonded GSD not protect it's owner and family with no protection training at all.

Hello BMartin, Yes you're right this deserves a whole new topic, and guess what? That I made possible. If you want a sound PPD I would go out and buy a good green dog for training. I would not be training a dog that was given up and has confidence issues as a protection dog.
