       SitasMom...

Hanny is a beautiful female.....and her pups are gorgeous too....: )

Is this temperament typical for her breeding???.....

by SitasMom on 17 June 2011 - 05:06

I have 2 of her pups
Hero z Eurosportu and Jyota Rallhaus, while each is wonderful in its own way, yet they are nothing close to their mother....... she's 1 in a million. I wish I could clone her as she exemplifies what a GSD should be.

"Sound nerves, alertness, self-confidence, trainability, watchfulness, loyalty and incorruptibility, as well as courage, fighting drive and hardness, are the outstanding characteristics of a purebred German Shepherd Dog."

Hanny is tough as nails, yet as sweet as sugar......

My dream dog is a blk sable with raccoon eyes.  She has the look of eagles fearless but ever watchful of the world around her. High biddability with enough sense when she has done the exercise enough times and done it right that she doesn't see the reason to keep on. In other words a self thinker. Just enough angulation to win in the AKC ring but definately not a hock walker. High drive but not over the top---enough to do ScH and do it with gusto. Natural tracker. OFA excellent and normal elbows--a good hip background with no weird colors. Ez whelper who out produces herself.  Good bed and riding buddy. One that can be taken anywhere and tho she might not want to be your best friend is easily approached--one that give her very life to protect me. Easily handled whether on the training field with her handler, the conformation ring with her handler or at the vet's office. Also I like a girl about 50-60#s, very fast and agile. Sidegait not necessary but a floating gait is--like she could her all day. Needless to say would have to get along with other dogs. And since I have built this dream dog I might add I want her homebred.

It is interesting to me, to see what everyone perfers in a dog. :)

Sitasmom - it is too bad that Hanny will be leaving you. She is a beautiful dog indeed.

RedSable - you've thought of this before, haven't you? :P

Kacey - GR's are wonderful dogs... my mom has one that I pretty much have grown up with... sweetest dog on earth right there.

LadyFrost, I agree with you on that.

To me, I like to see a "challenge" in the dogs eyes... like they are saying "Are we going to do this or what?" I like a dog who is ready for anything. A dog who is good with kids, other animals, and sociable in public, yet always on the look out. I like a dog who is totally focused on me. I like a dog who is full of life. Love, love, LOVE goofy dogs... a sense of humor is a must. :P
Conformation-wise, I dislike GSD's that have their butts higher than their withers, when they stand with all four feet under them, rather than stacked. A straight, gently-angled back, not those ski-slopes with their hind legs three feet behind them. Don't like loose hocks/pasterns... floppy feet are for ducks, not dogs. I like medium-length necks, with big, noble heads. I like a dog who walks like he's all-that... with a sense of nobility, dignity and pride about him. I like thick coats... not long-coat or LSC, but just thick... and glossy. My ultimate favorite color for a GSD is either solid black or dark, dark sable with either rich reds or no color at all (so s/he is just shades of grey and black). My third choice would be deeply pigmented red, with a lot of black on him (blanket back) and a very dark mask. Love dark faces and richly colored eyes. Those beedy black eyes belong on creepy porcelain dogs. Love long, bushy tails!
As far as abilities, the dog MUST be versatile... like I said, ready for anything. The ultimate companion. A dog who I could trust to save my life, as well as just be my buddy.

Ok I will give this a shot... Interesting that this post came up as I will be looking for another dog around Sept..
Here is the list that I compiled...

Male ONLY
12-14 months old
Black or very dark sable
Prefer Czech lines with a small amout of West German Working!
No Fero, Mink, Tiekerhook, or Grim z PS..
Would like to have Titus z PS in the pedigree
Want parents to be SchH3 KKL1 A1 hips/elbows
Would like first 3 generations to all be titled... preferably all SchH3
Want strong tracking drive.. as I will be doing the FH1 and maybe FH2
Good solid calm grips
Minimal obedience done.. If none that is great.
Hips/Elbows must be xrayed...I would like to see the xrays
Must have perfect dental
Will be used for breeding, but main purpose is for Schutzhund. I want to do club level, Regional and possibly National level Schutzhund.
Would like to see videos of the male
Must not be dog agressive.
Must be able to be AKC registered, if not done already.
NO handler aggression at all... its ok if he is handler hard.

The main thing I want to have is a good solid confident working dog.. I would love for him to be able to V rate.. but SG would be fine. I will be titling this dog myself so idealy I would like for him to have very minimal OB. This is what I came up with quickly.. it is my bedtime now...lol

Nice list, Jyl! :) I hope you find what you are looking for and are sure to post some pictures when you do get him! May I ask why you don't want Fero, Mink, Tiekerhook or Grim z PS in the bloodline? (just out of my own curiosity... I don't know much about the dogs mentioned, aside from the fact that Fero is everywhere, LOL)

The reason I dont want Fero or Mink is because there are so many dogs that have Fero and Mink so I want to get a male that is free of them. The reason I said no Tiekerhook is because I do not like how the dogs look. They are awesome working dogs, I just personally do not care for their looks. As for Grim it is the same reason as Fero and Mink.. The other reason is it isnt good to line breed to close on Grim z PS or Klara Z PS.. my female is line bred on Grim already so I want to make sure I get a male that has no Grim or Klara.

I want to see that certain look in the eyes when the dog looks up at you difficult to explain but to me the eyes are the Window of a Dogs Soul.
Other than that the dog must have rock solid nerves but have a character of its own
Colour is not important for me in a working line but a slight preference towards dark Sable, In fact another Pup to turn out like the one in the Avatar on the right would be fantastic i would be on cloud 9.

Gah... one too many.

I'll use this wasted space to also say though, that I like a dog who completely obeys me, and that I can trust totally on and off leash.
