Yet breeders/German importers still sell dogs to people in china knowing that these dogs will be at great risk. Greedy sons a bitches! Thinking nothing more than the money that these poor dogs will produce.

I say boycott China and these German importers/breeders who sell dogs to people in china.

I wonder if that dog was a VA dog? Or a high V? Poor soul.

Sadly it is part of their culture, like so many things for us "westerns" unacceptable, are as well. In a way the GSD has become a high maintenance animal, so for the poor villagers in China its easier to keep a village bred mutt around, and a GSD becomes a food and money source. Its survival for them, its horrifying to us.

As I still lived in Germany there were stories uncovered that mountain men in the swiss alps were beating GSDs to death to make their meat more tender from the adrenalin before they went into the smoker. This included pictures of bloody GSDs hanging upside down on a rope.

All this is saddening; I am gonna go and give my dogs a hug.

More like the offspring of a VA or V... buy the stock, breed them sell the pups for show and what pups dont do well becomes fur trade/dinner?

Will the USA start exporting homeless dogs to China that are homeless because to many are being bred for pet trade instead of euthanising them? The people breeding them BYB and puppy mill and big name multiproducing kennels since they are not selling in this day and age when people cannot care for the pets and already here just do not care. Right now all extra stock is being dumped soon as they get to old to bring profit to a kennel to go to rescue who has no room for them and people are not buying or adopting yet more and more are being produced.

After all it is how horse racing farms do it. If a horse is injured or washes out they used to sell it to the slaughter house and use the money to pay food bill for the earners. Now that they cannot just sell them to the business for slaughter they sell them under the table to the dog racers to butcher feed the greyhounds. I once heard a woman telling how she had a horse 18 years and that was first she learned to ride on and when it got to old she sent it on to slaughter even though she had plenty of pasture for retireing it. I just could not wrap my head around how she could do that.

To some people they are only business, to people like me these animals are companions/ family. All of this conjecture makes me ill and I will never support this treatment of animals the horses or dogs. Yes, I also boycott horse racing even though I am a horse person.

And you also stop eating beef because cows are worshipped in some countries.

Having said that most of the street dogs in Inda are beaten and made into pulp before being shipped to China for meat. This is the country which worships cows.

India ships dog meat to China? When I proposed the sick idea of shipping dogs to China for import meat I was being sarcastic and never thought something so sad really exists.

I am off to love my dogs with our afternoon walk and ball throwing.

Cows if handled properly are given low stress life and treated well before death and killed low stress to make meat tender. I know some slaughter houses do not do this and are caught. We do need meat sources and I am not anti meat at all. I however hunt wil clean kills and only what we eat and will continue to support home raiseing/slaughter and organic growing of meat animals done right against commercialism and those type of slughter houses as well as dogs being beat to death during slaughter.

I'm passionate about this topic, since I used to be an admin for a FB group that detailed the atrocities of what dogs (and cats) go through in China (and some eastern block countries). I have seen some absolutely abominable footage of dogs being killed (skinned of their coats) whilst still alive. Some of you may ask, why I could possibly watch that kind of stuff... but I had to make myself aware of this issue. The fact is, dogs & cats are deemed "livestock" in China. They are of no special value, and completely bred & killed for fashion & food. They are considered dirty scavengers, and the more they suffer in death, the more flavourful the meat. Twisted!...is my thought actually. It is completely a cultural thing unfortunately + an animal rights issue (nope...I'm not talking PETA stuff here, but close...since PETA gets pretty lit up by this kind of thing). But sadly, China doesn't even have human rights, so to expect animal rights, they are completely daft. Consider the dog culls they have. They'll randomly pick dogs right off a leash and bludgeon them to death (due the country's "height" restriction on dogs). That picture at the beginning of the thread is absolutely gut-wrenchingly disgusting. I've also seen pictures of puppy pelts sewn together, to make a rug. Can anyone imagine that shit?!?!

I can only hope, that younger generations of Chinese people get the memo, that this is a sick & disgusting practice.

even food sources deserve humane death, I and my family lifetime hunters with a strong code hunt only to keep healthy wildlife limits and kill cleanly and humane. I can understand hungry people but hungry people do not need to torture.
