OMG, Duke, you cannot make bad hips look good, but you can make fine hips look bad.

What OFA often sees as "remodeling," ie, an unclear definition between neck and head, to me, is sometimes just how they're formed. I have one like this, of similar lineage. How is it "remodeling" if the dog was ALWAYS like that? I think that's normal for that dog's conformation. I also see it in heavier boned dogs, not these little skinny boned dogs w/teeny little round femoral heads.

I handed the vet a sheet of everything that had to be on the name plate.  If SV wont take them without my name and his DOB, then I should have grounds to get them redone without having to pay again.  Im just really bad at standing up to vets on a topic (hip positioning) that I'm not well versed in.  I was under the impression that knees should be facing straight out of the picture and not off to the sides.

The vet I took him too this time was raved by other breeders in the area as being the best for hips.  Even our club director takes his dogs to her.

Thanks All

Here are his hips 6 months ago with sedation.  Do you see an increase in subluxation when sedated vs unsedated?  I think I'll get the vet to try a few unsedated and then go ahead with the sedation.  Position seems to be more important than subluxation.

Unsedated look better, tighter for sure.  That is normal.  Definitely redo these without sedation.  Yes your vet owes  you another x-ray for free.  Just tell her SV won't take them period...  No argument at all.  Just won't take them.   BOL  Nan

sedated is better - positioning is straighter by far.

Must have all info burned on the xray and have proper forms filled out from the SV. Must have a tatto or a chip verified by the vet and a form filled out. Positioning is poor. I would not send those in.

After a 2 hour wait and getting @itched out (because they shot his hip once and then tried to get me to take it, but I asked them to try again), I think they got a decent shot of his hips with him unsedated.  No extra charge too because they had forgotten to put his DOB and my name on the last set of xrays.  I don't know if it changed anything, his hip still doesn't look good. Wish us luck!

i have sent xrays to SV with not all the information on them and all you need to do is get a letter head from the vet with all the missing information in the letter, plus make sure you include the dogs name and reg # and tatoo/microchip # too in the letter.  i am sure when you call USA they will tell you this, i just did this last year.

MUCH better positioning.  I still think they may not pass, some remodeling in the necks and left head - but seating is ok, positioning good, now you  know what is really the dog and not the poor positioning.
